uncovered in your eyes

Hello Cakewalkers,

This is my first post here. I've just finished recording a demo of a song I wrote, called "Uncovered in your eyes".

I would love some feedback from you all - about the song itself, as well as production / peformance etc.

I recorded using:

Acoustic guitar, my voice and a shaker
ADK mic
Sonar 7 producer
The piano sound is from Garritan Personal Orchestra

The style is simnger-songwriter style. I listen to a lot of Paul Simon, Bread, Nick Drake, James Taylor....

Anyway - have a listen and let me know what you think.

Cheers.

I've posted the first 2 verses and a chorus on my site; and I promise to finish the song soon. The middle section is proving a little tricky...

Really nicely put together song, nice harmonies and a good quality sound overall.

A nice gentle trickling vibe to the tune I look forward to hearing the complete article, I understand the difficulty with the middle section its sometimes hard when you got a good thing going not to veer off into something that doesn't add to the original vibe, you sound a very talented lad though I'm sure you'll overcome it.

    Nice one.

Man, I started it, and it was so good, it surprised me! I am stopping and re-listening.

You have that acoustic finger picking style down "cold". And it really sounds good, great tone, great technique!

I like when everything else comes on as well, but I would like to hear that acoustic guitar just a bit more in the mix with the bass and keys.

The vocals are spot on, you have a touch of early british rock in your voice to me.

This was really good, I wish it were the whole song.

The only disappointing thing about the song was that it ended! Loved it! The melody and lyrics were wonderful. I like your voice and the guitar was very good as well. You can't leave me hanging here mate!

So easy to listen to! I could hear every word. Nice voice, great playing--nice mix. Oh, no, it's ending! Wow- that was WAY too short! Very good job. I like the piano sound too. I didn't know GPO had that. I only have the Pocket version that came with SHS6XL. I'll have to consider GPO now...

That was great. I loved it.
There is a perfect middle 8 floating around the I-hear-it-Songospheric-Tune-n-Lyric Land just waiting for you to have a quiet moment and write it down.

Can't wait to hear it when you get the whole cake out of the oven.

(Oh yeah man!!! I was a big fan of David Gates and Bread ...some very nice songs.)

Dude...I really dig it. Nice sound...very smooth and relaxing. Effortless.

I could hear this in an Apple commercial (I mean that in a good way)

Thanks for all the generous comments. I have now finished the song...for now....!. I decided against a middle section (call me a maverick). I played around with it a lot, and I ended up just sticking to 3 verses and 2 choruses. It's short - about 2 minutes, but that's ok by me.

Anyway - I also re-recorded the vox and guitar, and laid down another harmony line.

    Hope you like.

    Cheers.

The version I heard is about 2 minutes.... I really like it. I haven't heard that style in a long time. It sounds good...like JT for sure. The song writing is good, the harmonies are excellent.

There isn't much I could complain about except one major thing....it ended to soon.

    Good job.
