Midi Issue

I did a search already but maybe i wasnt specific enough...i even went through MC3 help..and still no luck...

I open CWMC3 and i add a midi track and then add my dxi synth...i set up parameter so that my controller can control...then when i finally touch a key on the controller the midi in light flashes on the midi in/out activity meter(left red light...no action from right red light)...if i run the dxi standalone with or without MC3 open i can use the mouse to click a key on the dxi synth and the sounds work...but no midi out to my synths while in MC3...by the way my laptop took a dump last weekend so im quite sure this may have had something to do with it...maybe im missing a file...i had to reinstall window and the whole 9...and i also remembered to install my controller drivers...

thanks in advance...its late in Korea gotta get some Zssss

So you get sound when mousing the notes, but not when playing the controller? When you record the keyboard, does any data get written into the track even though you can't hear it? Are the controller's MIDI cables attached correctly? If using USB, disregard that last question. Are the track's inputs set to MIDI Omni or a specific channel you want to record on? (If your controller transmits on specific channels). Since reloading everything, have you opened MC, made any necessary changes, and closed MC so the changes will take effect? Yeah, grasping at straws here. List your computer specs and sound card info, if you would, please.

    that's a very strange problem.

are you certain that the MIDI track is set to the DX OUTPUT track for the synth?

Beagle...Everything checks out...i even tried to record midi data...CWMC3 is recording midi data but no playback thru the virtual synth...i hope this doesnt have anything to do with the Win XP SP3 update...

^ That could very well be the problem. Make sure (again) that all your ins and outs are correct for all the tracks. Make sure the proper record and playback timing masters are selected in 'Options>audio' and that the correct MIDI device is chosen. Ensure that your soft synth is active, and, well, make sure everything is right, again. If you recieved the SP3 update, you might want to do a system restore to a point prior to the update. I have a thread about that, I've started creating restore points as I work on a project, so I don't lose anything.

Ive double checkd all my ins and outs...i have the correct midi device selected...i even double checked the computer...the moment i installed Win XP SP3 i started having problems with MC3 so i uninstalled it ...computer shows service pack 2...soft synth is active? usually all i have to do is insert it when i have a midi track and everything usually works fine...i may try to go back a bit further on a restore point...

wow, that's bad. I've read threads saying that SP3 has issues with sonar.

if you're asking about the same problem, I'm afraid I don't have any more answers for you. I'd check with tech support again.
