Radikal Technologies SAC 2K W/ Sonar 7.... HELP PLEASE

Some Sonar Users are having problems with it's quirkiness, but no one explains as I wrote to them, I realize there posts are 4 to 5 years old..And of course no response.. I even talk to Craig Anderton, because he wrote the Sonar book and other Cakewalk software involving the SAC 2K, he mentioned the same thing, however He said he would call me back, but I would like to hear from others if they experience any problems..

So here are my questions,

what mode are you running in?
what sequence can I do to re-initialize?
In Sonar located in the USER DATA under PRESETS there is a file that says SAC-2K (ARM Recording) how do I access that?

If you have the SAC-2K you already know how bad the manual is.. So explain how come the Audio/Midi tab in mixer mode buttons don't work in Slave mode that Sonar automatically puts it in? However it works in PT, DP, Logic mode?

This goes back to what mode are you running in?

Mine is an awesome looking paperweight at this point; I don't use it. Mackie mode never worked, the native mode hasn't worked since SONAR 2 for me. It goes unstable after a while and I have to reboot.

What version firmware are you running?

I use mine all the time and for the most part it works fine. It does have it's quirks, no channel record buttons is annoying. I also find it a pain that sometimes it will freeze up when adjust effects. But I would not call it useless.

    It's all behind the scenes.....

OMG!! I found others that have the SAC the version is 3.04 (most recent)..

So the channel records don't work.. Even in Sonar it states how to use them. Must be a the SAC, I have mine in Slave mode which SOnar puts in automatically..

Mackie mode never worked, the native mode hasn't worked since SONAR 2 for me. It goes unstable after a while and I have to reboot.

Mackie never works either... however, it seems I got more out of the Mackie XT template than I did just from the mackie template, however you must use the midi cables not the USB.. Now you mentioned Sonar 2, I scanned this website and found an active Sonar 2 plug-in for the SAC my question is.. Is that plug-in the same as the ones in Sonar 7? I was thinking about downloading it..

Also 7XL... Did you find that the the low, low mid, high, adn high mid buttons suck, it gives me filters and not freq.. But this could be how I have things setup in Sonar? However last night I was advise to set the channel record button to one of my assignment buttons (1-0) on the SAC..

Also 7XL.. if you go to the user data inside your sonar files (drive C) there is a XL file/preset for SAC 2K arm recording and mute +solo.. How is that accessed?

7XL can you tell me what yours SAC controls in Sonar?

    Thanks so much

I just wanted to give you an update on using the SAC2K or SAC 2.2..

I talked with cakewalk support and with Radikal Tech for the past 2 weeks..

However I managed to achieve my goal, but it's a doosy.. I'm still in search of a better way.. Cakewalk mention to use it as a generic controller-- great only problem is I still could not get the record button to work or the central controls..(Mixer modes).. Then cakewalk suggest using the ACT well for some reason the freaking thing work, then it started to act funny, well Radikal Tech comes into play and low and behold they send me the freaking midi note an control implentation charts so I jsut mapped everything out and it works using the ACT.. I have not tried anything else, I just couldn't get past that huge hump.. Here's a tip for you guys that may struggle when you power up the SAC hit the damn stop button and it will automatically switch to ACTIVE mode then proceed to manually program your buttons in.. it will take awhile but it is well worth it.. Also here is another on, since you are not using a template of the sac you must send the sysex of your tracknames, control functions.. As of now in ACT, my setup is sliders (vol), Mute and sols all work, all TRANSPORT functions work, jog work, my quick keys work (1-10) my master god damn fader works, and my eq works.. I was also advised that if you run it in ACTIVE mode you can quickly and easily switch between different controller/surfaces like you can run the ACT and generic, by holding down the system button and selecting (1-10).. I have not done this or even tried this yet.. Only problem is that ACT doesn't have the Fast forward key in their list, but who cares I just use the Jog wheel anyways.. but for now I'm okay..

    Later

Thanks for the help, this piece is a keeper, it's been slept on for too long

Wrong forum , There is an X1 forum. Sounds like it's a waste of time anyways. Your talking old gear (unsupported) with new software. But go to the X1 Forum and start a new thread. Also you need to supply your system info etc for faster help.
