Mix A an B comparison RFC Mix C added
hi guys I've been working on a mix with another sonarite. we have each done a mix of one of my tunes and I would like to post a short section of each. We have each used different gear and plugs etc. Please comment on each mix. what you like or don't like about it. Thanks Mix_A and Mix_B and now Mix_C Mix C is based on Mix A but the keys and percussion have been remixed and different effects on the vocals and sax.

Hi Tom, I liked Mix B. I think the sax, bass, and keys, are better. I hear the total mix like this; drums to low, sax, bass, and keys together but may be a little to loud in relation to vox. Just my take, hope it helps. Michael

Mix B...piano is nicer and more up front,...drums too. I'd like to hear the whole tune mixed "B".

B! I thought the vocals got a little drowned out at some points though. Frequency masking maybe?? Maybe try EQing the other instruments out of the vocals a bit more or turning them down a tad. Otherwise, sounds very good!

Thanks to all for the comments. My friend and I are both going to make adjustments and I will submit updated mixes from both of us in a few days. Once we both think we are done I will post the full length ver of both mixes. Thanks again for the feedback.

I actually preferred Mix A it's more open and suits the music better. While there is more definition to the instruments in Mix B and would work better for a pop tune, A sounds more ambient and more like it's 'live' in a club. My tuppence worth.

B Mix is brighter. I like this on everything except the vocals. They are a TINY bit too bright. I like the volume of the percussion in B. If I had to pick on of these I would pick A. The darker EQ seems to match to vibe of the song. Some where inbetween would be even better. Max Arwood

Tom, I thought B had the better blend, a more realistic live sound. The instruments just blended better in B, instead of standing so apart like they were separate performances as the A&C clips sounded.

Mix B stood out as a bit cleaner and sharper with the piano for me. Mix A was nice and warm, but not "bright and sunny" like mix B. Mix C was too wet. Sounded not nice at all really. Cheers Shad
