'Invaders Dawn' Soundtrack (Overture)

After a phase of study, I decided to check out a bit of orchestrating and seeing if I could make everything hang together in the mix.

The music evoked the morning before the Norman Invasion of these parts in 1066, which is roughly just past 11 o'clock by my reckoning...

It may need a little more cowbell but I'm not so sure...I'll see what Bruce reckons...

Hey, that was cool. It has a nice swing to it. The mix sounds great to my untrained ears, so take that for what it's worth. But I liked it, if that helps. A little more cowbell might help a lot. And I thought the ending was a little abrupt, but other than that, it's great!

I'm with Janet. More Cowbell!!! Just kidding. Nice Piece. Loved the ancient sounding flute thing @1:36. More movement in it would be good.

Jon, With Max on the flute. Really nice sound with the soft piano too. Really feel the peacefulness, along with the anticipation. Well done.

    Janet, Max and Tom.

Yeah, I'm really gonna explore the space with that Cowbell it think, I mean REALLY explore the space.

The flute is a patch called 'Andean Pipe Dream' I'm wondering has anyone made a career out cooking up patch names?...

Max I was thinking about more movement too, but I was also thinking about how much movement I'm actually capable of at Dawn and left it as it was, and Tom's choice of words particularly 'anticipation' was what I was after here so with hindsight I think the choice of leaving it alone was vindicated (thanks Tom, I really valued your comments here.)

    Where's the tamborine??????????????

That was amazing Jon. I closed my eyes and felt the whole scene unfold. the textures and hues were spot on...very evocative. I had to wipe the ocean mist off my face when it ended. Beautiful job.

    Cheers Rick

    Glad you liked it.

That's the most tracks (23) I've had running so far without needing to bounce, I bet if I put a tambourine on top it would be the final straw...

Woah, I like the way this started. The bag pipe (?) that comes in periodically seemed a tad overwhelming.

Really nice song Jon. I am impressed. I can see a movie already.

    Cheers
