Hey Tom, what a clean sound. You could hear every instrument and could tell how it was panned and were it sits in the mix. Thats very impressive. Fantastic playing,great lyrics,very catchy. Great job, going back to hear more.

i actually can't say i've heard country music all that much. i did once, i think, when i was a kid...it went something like "Momma, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys..." can't remember the title of the song.

but i digress. Tom, i enjoyed the tune and i found the mix very clear. your vocals are good, and its fantastic how you can tell a story through song. think i shld explore some more country music.

and is that your family photo? which one are you? :)

Alawn, Thank you for the complement on the clear mix and vocals. I am happy that the story I was wanted to tell has come though so well in this song. It is an important story for me to tell in order to honor my parents for the great upbringing they gave me. I'm the baby of the family, that's me, the youngest farthest to the right. I was 4, nearly 5 at the time, the photo was taken Easter Sunday 1960. My oldest brother turned 60 this year. Both my parents are still living. My father has dementia or Alzheimer's, and mother cried when she heard the song.

Love the dobro and the piano. Some harmony would be good at some key points, but that would just be icing on an already nice piece. I love songs about family that are written from the heart, they have a special place and generally others can identify with them.

Good tune, congratulations! I bet you family will cherish it.

Tom;
Awesome recording and mix you've got here. Everything's crystal clear, and nice tone to the vox. I like the dobro a lot, but the piano, when it comes in, really sets the ragtime feel. I'd personally like to hear some more piano runs throughout, but it sound great as is, too. Nice job.

Daryl, I've been thinking the same thing about harmonies, did while I was arranging it too. I hear others using harmonies effectively and must give it a try myself sometime. And yes, the family loves it. Thanks for listening and the nice comments.

Mark, Now that I like to hear. I appreciate it muchly. I love the piano runs myself and I'm kind of glad I left you wanting more. I started working on the first sketch of this song back in January, had finally hit a wall, and then that resonator is what finally brought it all together for me and I was able to finish it. Nice to have you mention the clarity and tone on the vox.

Tom that is one rich mix. I agree some harmonies would really bring out the chorus. Man what a full sound and so clean.

Tom,

This was a pleasure to listen to, and the steel guitar is a real treat. The drums and bass sit so well in this mix.

Nice storytelling as well - I can picture it all while I listen:-)

I can only hope to one day have your mixing and mastering skills - it sounds fantastic on my monitors.
