Re'mix - "I'll Be Right Here With You"

You may have heard "I'll Be Right Here With You", it's from 08. I re-did the vocal using M-audio, and remixed it using 8.5.

I hope you give it listen!!!

Below is from the olp post
"I'll Be Right Here With You" is a rewrite. I stayed with the melody for the most part, but changed about 8 line in the lyrics.
I never posted it on here, because I never like the way it turned out the first time.

I’ll Be Right Here With You

You can ask me if you like - but when it’s cold
I’ll light a fire for you
If you need someone to care -just to hold
I’ll fill that desire too
When your troubled and down
I will bring you delight
Through thick and thin I’ll stick around
I’ll be here both, day and night

Chorus

I’ll be right here with you
To light a fire on a cold winters day
I’ll be right here with you
Sharing what ever comes are way
Take a trip see the world
Or just a walk down the street
I’ll be right here with you
It’s a promise that I’m gonna keep

If bad luck should come your way - and make you sad
I’ll cure that sadness in you
When you have something to share - makes you glad
I’ll share in your gladness too
When there’s nothing to do
I’ll make it your leisure
When there’s just to much you’re going through
I’ll turn your day to pleasure

Repeat chorus

It can be a cold cold world
And sometimes it gets even colder
I’ll be here to keep you warm
As life goes on - as we grow older

i listened through headphones so the mids are up front

    a clean tight recording
    Pop true Pop
    Pop up beat happy instrumentation
    lyrical cohesion
    good sound panning
    solid drums
Good Voice (maybe turn the vocal up a touch) sittin just on top
and I like your song true pop

    If
you know some people to sing back up
    during the chorus and bridge
that would pump your song even more

I hoist my pint to you :)

That's a very uplifting pure pop song. I like it.

Production and arrangement sound very well to me ... except that guitar-like parallel/counter melody to the bass line during the chorusses (sounds a bit like a GM overdrive guitar, sorry ). It's quite upfront and dry and gets a bit annoying over time. But that might be just me ...

    Thanks for sharing.

Groveendroad, sound AWESOME! You have a lot of great tunes posted. I enjoyed listening to this tune and first I just wanna say thanks for the listen. Very cool work.

I did wanna suggest that the only thing I didn't like was the intro., When I say that I'm not talking about the music but the sudden start of it, It sounds like when you recorded it that you cut a little too much from the introduction of the song. It kinda starts a little too abrupt without warning. Maybe that's what you were going for. Whatever the case AWESOME WORK!

I'm no complaining, I'm just telling you what I hear.

Vintage Terry. Another wonderful song. Well performed with great lyrics and vocals. The thought the bass was panned a little too far off center.

I agree...good pop song...nice clean mix, good musicanship....

I have to agree with JT...that midi sounding thing in the chorus is very distracting, and annoying... remix w/o it.

The solo instrument (midi synth) at about 3:10 sounded really good...consider replacing the chorus thing with that.....but let it play in the background.

The recording is very good, clean and clear. The vocal is good and the music is eighties style. Maybe bring up the vocals in the mix. Enjoyed listening.

yeah, I'm not sure where 80s comes from, I get a strong 60s vibe, but hey, some of the best music ever written was done in the 60s? That's not a dig, I would wear it as a badge of honor...

    Hi Terry

You the first thing that occured to me on this was that it had something Gilbert O'Sullivan about it, with a touch of early Jeff Lynne in the production. It also reminded me of another Cakewalk Forum member, Kiwisdontdrinktea, who writes in a very similar style.

I'd have like to hear an 8 bar intro rather than going straight in with everything, but it's your song to arrange. I like the strings that come in at the three minute mark.

    Cheers

I completed a re-mix of "I'll Be Right Here With You". I turned up the vocal in the verse a bit and I'm using strings in the chorus. I think it may have turned out a bit better. Thank you for all the good input everyone

nice work as ever, the vocals are pure 60s, i see where someone has commented on the 80s, the verse could be early Madonna or something similar, whilst an elcetronic drum beat and non-chorused/slapback vox would complete the transformation! your stuff is always well put together and feels like a thru-composed song. i'd like to hear some drum variation in the middle, just to break things up a bit.

    Yeah,

I'm another for the '60's vote sorta Peter Noone but strangely modern at the same time.

This is really good stuff and courageous too in these 'cool image' concious times. There's something really refreshing and unpretentious about it.

It all sounds good and well-performed too.

Yeah, definitely got a 60's feel for me. As other's have mentioned the mix is very good. The separation was done quite well. I wanted a little bit more kick drum, but that might just be my taste. Also, I think some harmonies thoughout the song especially in the chorus (I think someone else mentioned this) would help to set off the chorus from the rest of the song.

Did you double-track the vocals or did you apply an effect to them? I'm wondering if it would add more interest to only apply the double-track in key parts to the song. However, Lennon did that quite often in early Beatles music (mainly because they had to pull the vocals out on those recordings) and it worked pretty well for them. :)

Take nothing that I've said as criticisms, I like the song a lot. Keep up the great work.

    Take care,
    Tom

Terry, I hope you will take this as a compliment...

I heard a song the other day (forgot where) that had a vocalist that strongly reminded me of you. The difference is the music was very contemporary and modern. Prior to hearing that, I wondered how you would sound with a more modern style, it seemed to me that great voice needed to come to the modern era, but I was not sure if the vocal style would work well in a modern song.

It did work very well. While there is nothing at all wrong with the 60's sound to your music, I would really like to hear you singing a modern style song (not that I am particularly good at producing modern music myself - I seem to be stuck in the 70's a lot of the time).

I missed the original mix, but this one sounded great, and as always, your vocals are second to none.

Always a pleasure to hear your stuff.

    Cheers

I'm working on getting my sound up to date, every time I write something. I think I can get it there with some of the stuff I am finishing up on.
One thing is for sure, the people that like that 60s sound are gonna be pleased with the tracks I will be uploading this Fall.

    What Robby said ^^^

This is (and your other stuff too) much more enjoyable for being true to itself IMO, rather than trying to fit into some definition of 'modern' whatever that may be.

Someone said once along the lines of that 'fashion changes so often because it can't bear to look at itself for very long'.
