sample player

I'd like to trigger some wavs I've made from multitracks. In which synth can I do that, and how?

For instance, a church bell I recorded, or a couple of measures of synth backing tracks.

thanks,

Jan

SFZ, Dimension Pro, Rapture could all be made to do it. Many other choices as well.

Can those synths actually play straight .wav files? I thought they had to be converted to the SFZ format, or probably I don't understand it that well. Like SFZ is really a system of pointers which allows you to build multisampled instruments quicker? I don't know. Anyway, If DimPro could just play straight .wav files, which you could loop. That would be cool.

I have Battery 3, so I would use that. It can definitely do it, and since church bells are percussion, it sounds like the perfect match. It could also play the synth backing tracks as triggers from the pads.

And ogg too, just load them into an element, no sfz file required. Depending on what you want to do with the wav, it might be just as easy to load them directly into the DAW.

Dropzone. But does Dropzone allow you to load more than one sample at a time?

    Shortcircuit.

Dimension and Rapture, as per previous comment.

Manytone.com offers a simple sample player that can handle up to four samples at once.

kvraudio.com lists a lot of free sample players, check it out.

Thanks, I managed to open a sample in Dimension LE, but I can't edit it. Transpose, etc...
I also can't seem to find the help file or manual for editing sounds within the included instruments in Producer. Can anyone point me to'm, please?

    thanks,

Dimension LE doesn't sport all the GUI editing tools. But if you learn the sfz format you could create an .sfz text file that contains what is needed to play the .wav file, then load the .sfz into an element in Dimension LE.

Sonar (I guess that is what you are using) isn't a good stereo editer. You need something like Sound Forge.

And there is no editor for Dimension per se; that is what SFZ is for. Personally, I'd love a visual editor for SFZ.

A simple solution is simply to "drop" the sample in the timeline, if it sounds the way you want it to. You can also turn it into a clip (acidize it) and perform operations on it that way.

I don't get that sfz thing, not even the editor.

Can you recommend me a simple sample player, where I can assign say an effect to c2, a loop to d2, a sampled chord to e2, etc, without having to learn a programming language?

    thanks,

That's more like it, simple and effective. And for most songs, I think I have enough with the 4 samples.

    thanks,
