Alesis Trigger IO. Anyone use it?

I want the Roland V Drums but don't want their "sound" module. It seems that I can get their ~$5000 set for about $2600 if I piece part purchase it and use an Alesis Trigger IO. Will that work as well as the Roland MIDI portion of their sound module?

My plan is to use these V-Drums in the studio only. I'm not a drummer and therefore would never need them to travel about for live gigs. See my sig for the Drum Romplers I use.

you'll probably get more responses (by other e-drummers too) at this place:

There is a link in this thread to another thread in the vdrums form.

I know you do not use BFD, but the discussion here is about the ALesis I/O and dual trigger zones and the like.
