Helen (the singer) holds her mic closely as she sings and she has a lovely naive kind of little girl´s voice when singing softly, so this is what we´re trying to capture on stage.


As I mentioned before, the way she holds the microphone may contribute to the feedback issue, especially if she partly covers the grill with her hands. I just looked into the manual of AKG's Elle C microphone, page 17.

I didn't read all the posts but if I were to get an AKG I would get a slightly higher end one or just get a Beta58.

Just thought of CG because, in a recording class that I took at UTK in 1981, I learned that she had a preference for a particular mic. As the story goes, she used it exclusively, both in studio & on stage, including this country-crossover classic. I just wish I could remember what that mic was...
