Righteous Sigil Ritual: a new composition

http://www.myspace.com/dannytwosheds

It's the most difficult listening I've done in a while. Guess what the last album I listened to is and get a pat on the back.

    Hey Dan,

This is fantastic music. you are extremely creative and quite out of the box (at least "Righteous" was)....always nice.
I got a huge chuckle reading your 'general info'.

    Thanks,

I was keeping the material fairly easy listening since I was using that page to get jobs. Today I was just like ferget that. Now I need to find a drummer to play stuff like this.

Instant Karma, I started listening, and then those two guitars started fighting! one in my left ear, one in my right! It reminded me of being married! When does the song kick in?? Is this music?

Here comes something that may be music... No, that's not music either?

Oh here it comes! Well this is closer.

Oh! it's changing again! Now this sounds like music!! :-) YES! YES!! MUSIC!!!

Now that's what I'm talkin about.

Wait, it's changing again... But it's still music! :-) And some pretty fine guitar work too! The drums sound a "little funky" Well I stopped it at some point. It was an interesting ride, but the dude that mixed that initial part may have had "mushrooms" on his pizza... Again, nice guitar work.

robby is always so dramatic Dan, but thats alright, dramatics is fun. You song was quite dramatic also. It reminded me of the old music poetry type of thing only you weren't reading a poem. Different is good though, I like different and that's why I do what I do and your doing what you do. Interesting guitar work and a little funk to boot. Thanks for sharing. John

That was an interesting listen, and I ended up liking it - an interesting blend of complimentary guitars.

    Excellent guitar playing.

This was sooo weird, but in a good way Dan! I'd say deliberate dissonance... Loved it! I liked the way the 2 guitars were weaving in and out in certain passages.

That was really cool to listen too. The complexity of some of it was interesting and it moved in ways not expected, which in my book is not a bad thing.

So do we start calling you the artist formally known as "instantdan"? (Prince took the name of his sigil out of protest to WB)

I'm glad I could inject something different here.

robby: why not listen to the whole song. the end is the most "songish" part
theguitarplayer: I guess that poetry is a good way of thinking about it
lhansen: I prefer to think of dissonance as an extension of harmony
foxwolfen: If I had to take a symbol as a name it would be the Cambell's Chunky Soup logo

Thanks for all the kind words. Anybody hate it?

No apologies needed. It's not for everyone.

BTW, I just am finishing another but I don't know if I should post it or save it around.

I could imagine Beefheart singing over it.

Equally I think it would sound really good with a Jazz drummer in there.

    I really liked it anyway.

RIGHT ON!! This is what I was trying to say :-) It's all very subjective, and one man's something, is another man's something else. Nice! Glad you liked it and commented so CLEAN.

Interesting stuff Dan, hints of Robert Fripp in there. I like the growling, moody bass in the middle of the 2 guitars. Preferred 'Two Go For It Minuets' though

This has an open freeform kind of feel like a of the abstract jazz music from the 60's. Interesting compositional style and approach.
