    YES!!!all the time. as long as your song tempo is close (within 10bpm) the results are anywhere from acceptable to INCREDIBLE. I am blown away by BIAB real tracks. I can't wait till the library grows. Peter Gannon has done something remarkable, and it can only get better. BIAB has finally grown to be the product that it was meant to be from the beginning. I have used BIAB since the Atari days, upgrading every time there was a new version. I was always a good product but midi could only take you half the way. Now with real tracks you can get a superb backing track, that has the polish that only real acoustic guitar or sax or lead guitar can offer. I have a full library (20+ discs) of samples, one shots, loops, etc. and "real tracks" surpasses (for me anyway) them. As I stated in another post, Sonar with BIAB 2008.5 makes a winning combo. By the way check out PGmusic's new package "RealBand" it is a merger between their seqencing program "Power Tracks Pro Audio" and Band in A Box. I have it but don't use it much, because I import my real tracks into Sonar. NO I don't work for PG Music, I just love where they are at with their software. I'm sure that someone (or 2 or 10) will respond with a different assesment, but that doesn't change the real world results that I'm getting with the product. Thanks for letting me rave on about something that I'm excited about.

    I edited this post to get the names of the software right....my memory aint what it used to be

    BIAB has real tracks, which are audio files under control of MIDI, for drums, bass, rock sax, and various guitar styles. You would really need to see their website to get a good feel for how much is available. They started with drums a few years ago, and new RealTracks sets are coming out rapidly now.

    Here is a short description from their website:
    _______________________________________________________________

    RealTracks replace the MIDI track for that instrument, and can be controlled just like the MIDI instrument (volume changes, muting etc.). Best of all, they follow the chord progression that you have entered, so that you hear an authentic audio accompaniment to your song. These are not “samples,” but are full recordings, lasting from 1 to 8 bars at a time, playing along in perfect sync with the other Band-in-a-Box tracks. RealTracks can be assigned to play on any Band-in-a-Box track (guitar, bass, etc.), and you can select up to seven different RealTracks in one song. RealTracks can also be built in to the style, replacing the MIDI bass, guitar, piano, or strings part in that style. In addition, you can also use the Soloist to generate RealTracks. Adding a real instrument to the mix makes all of the Band-in-a-Box and PowerTracks Pro Audio MIDI parts sound more authentic -add up to seven and the results are phenomenal. RealTracks add an exciting human element to your Band-in-a-Box and PowerTracks Pro Audio arrangements, but that's just the beginning. They can be used for all kinds of recordings!

    * RealTracks Set 2 - Country Ballad
    * RealTracks Set 3 - Swingin’ Country
    * RealTracks Set 4 - Modern Country
    * RealTracks Set 5 - Rockin’ Guitar
    * RealTracks Set 6 - All Metal!
    * RealTracks Set 7 - Acoustic Jazz Bass & Rock Sax
    * RealTracks Set 8 - Country Folk
    * RealTracks Set 9 - Country Electric Guitar
    _______________________________________________________________

    Please note, the correct name for their new program that combines BIAB with sequencer features is RealBand, not RealTracks, although RealBand uses RealTracks.

    I have always used band in a box. Very impressed with realtrack incredible country lead guitar and rhythm guitar.
    Question:
    When you output the wave file and import into cakewalk would you mix it in the same way as other audio tracks. I see the conversion synth adds reverb and delay plus other effects. Should these be turned off and then added in Sonar.

    Personally, I would turn them off and use FX in sonar instead.

    Yes, they should import into sonar just like any other wave file.

    Thanks Beagle.
    Do you know how this is done getting the real track which is one long wave file to play I presume triggered from a midi track.

    Yes...as I stated in my last post. I use it, like it and give my endorsement (not that it is worth anything). If you have specific questions I might be able to address them (?)

    The RT's are wave files of a certain tempo and style. What I like is the generation of RT's in either BIAB or Real Band then exporting as wav files. Export the other BIAB non RT as a midi, then import the midi change the instruments to soft synths import the wave files, season to taste and mixdown to a very sweet backing track. The wave files can be edited for the expressions you might want and if you keep them in the same relationship to the midi there's no foul up timing.
    So far so good,Wyndham

    I've never gotten used to the overwhelming, confusing, Windows 3.1 style interface! Seemed to be very confusing, then again, I never did read the manual.

    Do you think that you get better results that way, than if you just exported the BIAB song as a MIDI, imported that into Sonar, and then played back the MIDI tracks with high quality sampled instruments?

    Real recorded instruments will always sound better than MIDI using samples. that's the reason I purchased the upgrade recently so that I could use some of the real tracks of BIAB/RB.
