Crescendo/Decrescendo?
In MC4 how would I make a midi instrument have a crescendo or decrescendo? I've got a long note in which only a trumpet and a piano are playing and by the end of the chord the trumpet sounds WAAAAY too loud. By the way, I've pretty much scoured the manual... *but I'm too lazy to look through the forums for another thread like this* so if there is another thread with the same question please direct me to it EDIT: I'm using Cakewalk TTS-1... if that helps...

You can edit the MIDI velocity in the track in several ways, and in fact, Beagle clued us in on a much easier way to do it recently. Let me take a look for the post...he'll probably beat me to it. http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=1472696 Hope that helps.

Thanks, it took me a while, but I figured it out... At first I didn't understand one bit, but it's fine now p.s... in your signature it says you have 2048 GB RAM. If that's true I will be so jealous!

A lot of the guys and gals here have that much, and more. Memory is vital for seamless audio reproduction, especially when using a lot of effects or software synthesizers. It came with the computer, I told the guy "give me the fastest computer with the most memory that you have in stock right now". Two years ago, it's probably obsolete now.

No, I have 2048 MB as well, but you said GB... And I've run into another problem... I can get it to crescendo but not decrescendo...

lol. 2048 Gigs is rather significant. I'm thinking Northern hemisphere scale. Would that be 2 Terabytes?

click on the "w" in the track control area.... it turns red.... then play the project again...starting right before that problem area.... using the mouse...drag the fader up or down as needed. This creates a volume envelope that will automatically do the volume up/down at that spot in the future. You can easily redo or remove the envelope completely or do it again if it's not exactly right. I prefer doing this from the "console view".

Thank you so much, guitarhacker... That's perfect. Now I just need that 2048 GB of RAM and I'll be happy

Centigrade. Thanks for pointing that out, pieguy. GB, MB, HD, RAM, S/PDIF, I get my initials confused sometimes.
