"Hometown" & "Today"

Lots of backstory on both of these, but here are the tunes. These are old tunes I'm trying to breathe new life into. I think Hometown is a basketcase, I'm having real trouble trying to convey the groove under the surface.

Today was a song I wrote for my wife when her father passed, it's alright the way it is, but down the road I may add some slide guitar.

Just checkout the myspace link in my sig, both songs are posted up there.

    listened once in Cans

good tune and vocals and real nice back ups
clean sound good use of space

    i'm really into good drums
the drums dynamics could use a lift more rolls and fills
would pump and accent your song more

    overall yes well done

    Ron,

I only found "Hometown". Really good song and fantastic playing. I think you've got too much in the center of mix and it's a bit competitive and muddled.
I would spread out those instruments a bit wider to give that great playing it's due.

    Nice song!

Listening to hometown, nice southern rock/Almans vibe to my ear. I'm less of a fan of the high backing vocal.

like the acousitic guitar sounds on today in the intro. Interesting octive vocals vs. harmony.

I quit smoking this weekend...so I spent much time in "the cave".

I think it was screwing with my ears, so my apologies.

The vox on "Today" sound a bit to impersonal, so I'm going to scale back the harmony a liyttle. After listening to the mixes in my car this morning, I mixed the bass all whack.

Ron, Home Town is a great personal ballad with a catchy hook. I didn't see Today on soundclick.
