My Junk

My MySpace

Dead of Night tends to get the best feedback.
It's all just electronic noodles though and the mixing etc. probably isn't up to the standard expected here.

Oh, poo on that! Seriously, it's about making the music... havin' ideas... puttin' 'em down... that's the important thing!

I like your stuff. A bit dark. Hey, do you use any xoxos stuff by the way? Some of your elements have that organic/algorithmic quality... if you haven't checked out xoxos, you should! He's got some pretty cool stuff over there for pattern generation and whatnot -- http://www.xoxos.net and also audio demos here http://www.breathcube.com

Never even heard of xoxos but I'll check it out, thanks!

I've used Max/MSP a bit over the years and I have a thing about organic sounds within an electronic framework.

About the dark comment, it is something I get quite a lot. Best ever message was from an Italian on MySpace who said "Sorry for English, I like your music, I would like to stab with this."

Oh... well, then you'll probably be able to find some gems over there... he's done some interesting projects, so much so that a bought his whole licensed package for the $50 or whatever it is (I think the price went up recently)... I'm mostly a jazz/jazz fusion/rock/pop guy, but I like effin' around with sounds and synthesis and atmospheres and, well, the type of stuff that xoxos makes... A bunch of his stuff is free too, but bear in mind that I think it's all created with synthedit, so you'll need to be careful about the multicore issues there, if you know what I mean.

Here's a couple of direct demo links that are good examples of just turnin' the crank:
    http://www.breathcube.com/hyperion/may18-10.mp3
    http://www.breathcube.com/hyperion/may15-2.mp3
    http://www.breathcube.com/hyperion/cool.mp3
    http://www.breathcube.com/suspension.mp3

It's interesting, because inevitably you come across harmonies and harmonic patterns that imply other patterns and harmonies that are inspirational to jazz/pop/R&B chord changes and melodies... So it's all connected in some strange way...

Then there's some of the polyrthms that can develop... I'm actually a drummer first, so the percussive nature of the xoxos stuff really draws me in too...

Now that's pretty funny... er, I think...

Sounds very generative, much like autechre's Confield album. I really like it and did some similar stuff in Max.

Lee, I listened to a little bit of each and all of Dummer's Funeral as the title caught my interest. I liked the way you waited until almost the end to bring in the drums. Very creative stuff/noodles.

Thanks! Sorry I didn't see your reply earlier.
I am still just trying to get the sounds out of my head and onto the computer, it's only been about, um, 3 years or something.

    d45,
Can't say I listen much to ...not sure about genre's either. But this is a good place for open ears.
I enjoyed all of them. The recordings sounded very good.

Not knowing what you use to create with I couldn't help but think you'd really like Spectrasonics Omisphere.

    Welcome to a great place.

Very interesting. It's new to me and i have no reference, being an old fart, to say if it's up to any standard. i listened to Dead of night. it did have a strange vibe like riding the subway alone at 2am on LSD...very interesting.
