Usually my Dad just calls the company for me...
Is this George W. Bush?
The only thing I haven't tried is the tutorials, which I actually may have when I first got the program a few months ago. (I got frustrated then and quit messing with it.)
The tutorials are the first thing you should do, but keep in mind that Tutorial 1 is MIDI only and unless you have a real synth (which I don't think you have) you need to use softsynths to get any sound. First you should use Tutorial5.cwb to check your soundcard setup.
1) Go to Options-Audio-Drivers and make sure your Realtek is selected
2) Go to Options-Audio-Advanced and make sure the Driver Mode is WDM
3) Go to Options-Audio-General and press the Wave Profiler button.
4) Load Tutorial5.cwb
5) Hit Play
Then do Tutorial1 and it should work if Tutorial5 worked.
Home Studio comes with the Roland TTS-1 and a few other softsynths. Load Tutorial1.cwp and follow these instructions:
1) View-Synth Rack
2) Click the Insert DXi button (looks like an asterisk)
3) Click on TTS-1 - Check First Synth Output and Synth Property Page checkboxes
4) Edit Select All (to select all tracks)
5) Track-Property-Output
6) Select TTS-1 from the MIDI Outputs pulldown (that makes the TTS-1 the output for all MIDI tracks)
7) Hit play
