Vista 64 audio alignment problem

I tried searching in these forums first but nothing ever came up for my search terms...

I have a brand new Windows Vista 64 SP1 Home Premium machine, Intel quad core 2.66 w/8 GB RAM. Audio and OS are on same disk for now (waiting for my Glyph!) I am using SONAR 7.0.2 Producer version with a MOTU 828 mk II, 64-bit drivers. SONAR was the first program I installed when I brought home my new machine. :-)

I have a demo project that's two tracks: stereo mix of instruments and a single vocal track. I noticed right away when it was looping the lead vocal audio would get out of alignment. It's either ahead of the other track or behind it. It's been consistent.

Anyone had a similar problem? Any solutions?

Thanks in advance!

What is listed for your recording and playback timing master?? Hopefully its your Motu and not your onboard sound chip/card.

Yes, it's my MOTU. It seems to have auto-selected "1: MOTU ADAT 1/2"

Update: it seems to happen always when I move the loop end marker during playback. But I did that all the time in my previous Sonar incarnations w/no problemo...

Are you using a n adat for the timing master?? If no, change it to analog out 1 or somethnig.
What is your sync set to in sonar?? Full chase??

Changed it to analog out 1, full chase is set. Problem persists...moving the loop begin/end markers eventually causes the tracks to play out of sync (takes two or three adjustments, but it always happens...)

    Appreciate your help though!

I just changed the "Driver Mode" from WDM/KS (which was auto-selected, presumably from the Wave Profiler?) to ASIO and things seem to have improved.

Is ASIO always recommended does anyone know?

Not always, no. I use WDM. It depends on your personal hardware configuration; ASIO is better for some setups, WDM better for others. Glad you got it sorted out.

No, but ASIO works better for me with the Motu ultrlite also. WDM worked better for me with my edirolfa66 and presonus firestudio. So, it just depends.

Cool...thanks for the info guys. A little scary that something that should work...doesn't. But, I'm constantly amazed any of it works for any reason. ;-)
