Problems!

I bought an Edirol PCR-500 a while ago, which came with some type of stripped down Sonar Basic edition that did not allow me to export my music into any form. Upon my first try, I managed to get everything working very well, it even imported the VST plugins from my trial of frooty loops. I used it for around a year with success at using the program with decent proficiency...but then I built a new computer and sold the old one. My new comp is an Asus P5N-D, 2.6C2D Oc'ed to 3.6GHz, 4 gigs of 800mhz OCZ DDR2 ram OC'ed to 1000mhz, Vista Ultimate 64 bit (somewhat hacked to make my life easier), 8800GT @ 2000 and 700 Mhz, 1tb HD, and my baby, a HT Omega Claro + sound card along with Ultimate ears Tripple Fi's. I run my audio through a Harman Kardon AVR 745 and a custom speaker I built using Seas drivers.

Not only did I loose the disk for that version of Sonar, but it was really not enough to seriously make music with, so I got this program, the producer edition of it. The main problem is that I have no idea how to make my keyboard work with it...it is hooked up through a usb cable to my computer, just as it was before. This time though, the program did not assist me very well with installing it. So, how do I set up the keyboard to work with this program? Another problem I have is that imported music when played creates a clicking sound. I have no idea how to stop it from doing this. Thanks.

    Hi,

is the clicking a random thing or more like a metronome?

Don't worry about losing the disk. You can get the latest drivers from HERE

You can also download the manual from there, which details all you need to set up with Sonar.

It varies from song to song. It is not consistent, like 1 click per second, but the random sounding distortion which sounds like 8 clicks per second, repeats in around 1 second intervals.

Once you have the drivers installed and working. You can set up the Edirol to use more of Sonars features (especially act and surface control) by following this.

Step 1. Make sure that under Options- midi devices you have both Ediroal PCR 1 and 2 selected.

Step 2. Under Options- Controllers/surfaces. Select to add a new controller. (small yellow icon) choose the surface Edirol PCR 300, input port Edirol PCR 2. It doesnt matter what you set the output port to.

Now press the Dynamic mapping button on your keyboard, you should instantly get the ACT screen up on display. Now you can use all the controls on your controller to affect your active plugin or to work as a control surface for the mixer.

Thank you, I have the synths working....and I somehow managed through all of that fiddling to eliminate that skipping sound! Now the problem is that when I load up a song after I have loaded a synth, and play it, the synth stops working. The db bar still goes up when I press the keys, but no sound is created. Any idea what could be causing this?

I also managed to set the latency as low as possible without any noise.

I noticed that it now says "audio runnin" in green on the bottom.
