The Last Version Of Sonar I Buy Will Include...
This is a variation on the usual wishlist threads. What features would need to be added for you to never have to upgrade your copy of Sonar again?
Since engine/performance things like "a faster audio engine" or "better core balancing" are just given, no need to reiterate those. No "new plugins" or bug fixes either. Stick to features. I'm also not including the few new features we know will be in S8 (i.e. instrument tracks).
Here are mine:
1. Improved transient detection on Audio Snap. Perhaps detection presets (i.e. telling AS that this is a bass track, or drums, or a vocal, etc.) are the way to go.
2. The ability to copy and paste Audio Snap transients between tracks and link them by...
3. Group editing. This is essential for editing multi-track instruments.
4. Auto-assignment of outputs on VSTi's with mono AND stereo outs. Think BFD2.
5. VST MFX support.
6. True stereo panning.
7. Tape style monitoring.
8. Varispeed playback/recording. I should also have the option of slowing down playback by semi-tones as well. I also want to be able to automate this for speed up/slow down effects.
9. An easier way to tempo map a song using Audio Snap. Currently I have to click the Audio Snap properties, the Set Measure/Beat button, select the measure/beat, hit ok, click back on the track view, hit tab to get to the next transient. Way too many steps...
10. A latency slider on the toolbar.
11. An "all effects off" button for tracking at reduced CPU.
12. A major ACT overhaul, that allows me to dictate what parameters I want assigned to what controllers. Make it work more like a front end for a good MIDI learn implementation like it was sold as being.
13. The Project 5 arpeggiator.
14. Sub-foldering.
15. Improved notation.
16. A "Lyrics view" that would allow the singer to see the lyrics for the part of the song they are on from afar. This would require some manual work, but I'd happily invest the time up front to have this.
