Amplitube 2 vs. Guitar Rig 3?

1) Hey guys, I was wondering what your experience has been with Amplitube 2 and Guitar Rig 3?

2) Have you had a chance to try out both and if so, what are your thoughts and which one do you prefer?

3) Do you have any audio samples you done with any of the above software programs?

4) And lastly, does anyone know if there’s a software out there that does the same thing but with acoustic guitar modelling instead of electric guitar sounds?

5) Okay I lied, one last thing...I'm wondering if there's any type of modelling software out there that will allow me to use my current electric guitar and at the same time allow me to create any kind of custom electric or acoustic guitar sound I like?

Thanks!

The best Acoustic modeler I have come accross is the one on my Digitech GNX3000. This is hardware based modeling though. Quite frankly I was very surprised by the fact the GNX3000 had such a good acoustic modeler, as for the most part their other renditions of Marshalls, Boogies and other amps usually lack the bottom end needed to get that push pull of a tube driven stack.

I can say the same thing about the Amplitube modeler. I don't much care for it. There other's here who use the GR3. I haven't as of yet. I do on the other hand use the Line 6 GearBox modeler and have been very satisfied with the tones I can get out of it. They sound much truer to the real thing than most modelers. And in the Case of the Line 6 stuff you buy what you need and it is more reasonably priced. The downside is you have to use one of their interfaces to make it all work.

I avoid Amplitube because it is very noisy. Any of the "plug-in" amp sims to GT3 come out sounding that way. Hmmmmmm.
The Line6 simulators are quite good though. They process the signal before GT3 gets them. Hmmmmmm.

(Peter, shut up and go tidy your room or something - the adults are having a conversation)

The Kiss, I've never used Guitar Rig so I can't help there and I've only got the LE version of Amplitube which shipped with GT, which personally I don't care for at all!

I'm afraid I'm all Line 6 here TK - similar to Doc I use a TonePort with both the Gearbox software and the Gold bundle which includes the excellent plug-in version of Gearbox.

There's a pretty good free VST plug that gives a 'dry' electric guitar a reasonably convincing acoustic feel - click on THIS LINK to download the NUSofting DeepBoard - it's certainly worth a try

    Hope that helps

    I use both.
GR3 to me sounds better for distorted guitars when recording, dispite Amplitube2 sounding better post production.
I may just start micing my amp and see if it works better.
I tried running straight with a metal zone but the tones were too hard to control.
Now... I actually use Amplitube LE to run all my vocals through, and i`ve liked it.

Just to clear up any confusion. I happen to use the Line 6 GearBox Plugin rather than the stand alone ported into Sonar 7.
