drum programming

Alright, so I've searched around and still can't find what I'm looking for. I want to use my midi controller to make beats in Sonar HS6. I want to have a continuous loop going so that I can add/delete notes as the loop runs (without stopping).

Is there a free VST out there that can add/delete notes in real-time? I'm tired of switching between controller and mouse every 3 seconds.

Any help on how to make beats faster would be most appreciated.

A little more info would help. If you are working with an audio loop, you can't "add" notes to it directly - it is a loop. REX files slice it up, so you can play the hits of the loop. Or are you trying to add synth notes on top of a loop on anothe track?

sorry, I shoulda been more specific.

I am only talking about midi. I just want to have a 1-2 measure loop going, and be able to add/remove the midi notes as the loop runs over and over again. So, effectively, I could start the loop, tap in 16th notes on the high hat (via my controller), then once it loops back, add in bass drum on 1 and 3 and snare on 2 and 4. Then it loops again and I remove some of the high-hat notes....etc. All of this without having to stop the loop, or having to use my mouse to delete a bunch of notes.

I just need a simple way to seemlessly add/remove midi notes in a loop. Kind of like fruity loops' sequencer.

    foltapj,

Drum machine behavior like that is...

    1.) Easily done in Project5

2.) Perfectly done in Fxpansion's Guru.

I also have HS6 and I can't think of a way. But you could upgrade to HS7 which has the new step sequencer.
