Creating and editing sfz format files on Mac

Are there any tools for doing this? - I know you could use a text editor but on Windows there are several utilities with graphical interfaces to make it easier as well as conversion utilities? Anything for Mac?

The least sophisticated text editor will do the job.

SFZ files are simple text files.

As I said - I know that but it's a rather cumbersome way of doing it and I can't convert something from another format to sfz using a text editor.

I believe the Chicken System translator does SFZ conversion, but it might be the other one -- Extreme Sample Convertor.

While it can be tedious to edit SFZ by hand, it's not difficult. I know of no alternative, especially on a Mac. That's always been a big problem with Mac -- limited choice of available software.

Here's the link to SFZ spec:

But I'll bet the Mac has some good text editing applications that would allow for customizing their color-syntax highlighting capabilities. That would be a step in the right direction for editing .sfz files with a format-specific editor available.

    +1

crimson editor on the PC is good like that. (I use it for 8 bit asm)

Maybe ask on a mac programming forum.

might be of help.. Although using sfZed is probably the best option (alas pc) maybe that could be ported to the mac.
