Thanks Bill, I appreciate your taking a listen to some of my stuff and glad you liked it!
My biggest problem is getting round to finishing stuff, that's why there are so many 'Works In Progress' on my Soundclick site - I work hard at writing and arranging my original ideas and then record the rhythm guitars and bass to a basic, unedited drum track; once I've done this I seem to lose interest and before I know I've arranged another WIP and recorded it! My poor old songs sit there with no vocals, a half-assed drum track and no solos - I keep promising myself that I
will get round to it some day I guess!
Apart from my very latest stuff with Troy on our
VeRyMeTaL collaborations, everything was recorded into GTPro2 or GTPro3 using either 'SmartLoops' drum loops or creating my own from a set of samples Doc did for me which I've sequenced in the FruityLoop program that bundled with Pro2.
I recently took the plunge into the world of MIDI when I upgraded to Cakewalk's SONAR Home Studio 6XL, and on the advice of the guys in here, I added the MIDI based
Toontracks 'EZ Drummer' program with the Drum Kit from Hell expansion pack. So far I've recorded four songs in Home Studio and the first completed one using the EZ Drummer is our version of the Sex Pistols classic
Holidays In The Sun which after only using audio to record with gave me a great sense of achieving something!
I'm so glad for you that you've got your passion back after what must have been an incredibly difficult time for you Bill - anything we can help you out with just feel free to ask away and don't worry about rambling on - hey, I invented it (writing 'novels' instead of answers as Doc would say!) - our more laid back, chatty and often humorous style has its detractors but in the main we get the job done, the accumulated communal knowledge that resides with the regular contributors in here is as good, in my opinion, if not better, than that of any of the forums on the Cakewalk site; I can confidently say this as a regular who is
still learning!!
Now I've distracted you - back to your dusting Bill and we'll look forward to hearing from you soon, even if it's just for a chin wag
Steve
