OT Any Omnisphere users seen this?

Even tho my DVD drive is indeed "dual layer" windows (xp32) shows nothing on any of the Omnisphere DVDs. No folders no files, nuttin. It reads up many other DVDs just fine. But not any of the Omnisphere discs. Got a call and an email into Spectrasonics but thought I'd try here too as you're all geniuses and such.

Well, on Spectrasonics site is says under system requirements: " a dual layer dvd rom" drive. Which is what I have. However, after doing a little more look-see I find that the Omnisphere disks are being read as DVD-RAM disks. My XP sees the drive/disk but does not see any content. Don't know but I may be stuck getting a new DVD drive. If this is the case Spectrasonics will also be posting new guidelines as to this problem.

ps: All the Omnisphere disks are labeled as DVD-ROM disks. Go figure.

My dvd drive is dual layer, but after downloading the tool that Noel suggested, it showed it was DVD-R DL, not DVD + R DL which is needed for Sonar Producer 8 and I also I would guess, Omnisphere.

    From Noel:

"A better way to test is to run a tool like ASTRA32 or SiSoft Sandra that allows you to view properties of your hardware. ASTRA32 is one such diagnostic tool that will allow you to check the properties of your DVD drive. You can download the free eval version here: http://www.astra32.com/download.htm
Run ASTRA32 and click on your DVD drive under "Storage". Under "Reading Features" check if "DVD+R DL Disk Read" is marked as supported. If it says supported you should be good to go."

I'm not sure my laptop DVD reader is dual layer capable - not tried it with any movies yet. Should it say something on the writing on the tray?

What happens if it's not - would it just affect installing Dimension or everything?

Oh well I tried that ASTRA software but I don't believe what it says. It's telling me my laptop DVD Writer doesn't support DVD +R or + RW (Read or write) but I know it does so the fact that it's also telling me it doesn't support Dl is something I'm not sure if I can believe either now. I've just inserted the latest Computer Music magazine disk and that has 7.5 gigs of content so surely that must be dual layer - it's reading that fine.
