drum software

Can anyone recommend a program with a good stock of drum loops that can be edited (preferably with something like a piano roll function)?

If you want straight midi loops, maybe http://www.groovemonkee.com/home/ will do.

If you have a sampler that can load REX files (like DimPro, etc.), then any REX library will do.

If you have a sampler that can slice/dice, like Kontakt etc., then any audio loop library will do.

If you are getting Sonar 8, looks like Beatscape would do the trick.

Also check out GURU, Jamstyx, EZDrummer, Stylus, etc.

Check out Jamstix at www.rayzoon.com they have a demo you can download....it's a full version functioning version with limited kit, and it has a few other things to keep you honest. But it works ...so you cen check it out fully before buying it. I bought it and would buy it again.

It's not loops based...it actually creates a drum track for you based on style, drummer personality, kits, and beyond that there are all kinds of editable options and it's automate-able. It is a VST plugin, and follows midi or audio, and can also use the loops based programs and follow & play a specific midi drum track.

For me it's the best thing to happen in the digital recording world.
