Tube MP repair

Has anyone ever had to repair one of these things? I'm sure someone has at one point or another. I have one that needs a new output potentiometer. ART hasn't responded to my requests for parts ordering so I'm wondering if anyone here has a place that sells the repair parts for these things? I realize they're almost a disposable item but I'd kind like to keep mine working if possible. I don't want to pay for repair for a unit that has a street price of about zero

Also I noted that those ribbon cables they use inside break pretty easily. The tube mounts to a daughter board inside the unit which is attached to the top plate. Replacing the tube requires a bit of care in handling but over time, it's almost inevitable that the cable will break from repeated flexing.

Cheers!

I´ve never looked inside one of these, but I don´t see a reason there should be any kind of special parts in it - I´d unsolder it & take it to radio-shack or whatever is closest - it might be good to stay away from the cheapest pots though - I try to stick with CTS or Mouser pots, a bit pricier than the cheapest, but worth the extra bucks in the long run. I think they cost somewhere around 5 - 10$.

By the time all is said and done, you might be able to get a replacment off the internet for about the same cost.

That's probably true. I thought someone around here might have a quick solution before I started down that path. I could probably buy a few on ebay and just cannibalize them :-)

If you know what parts you need, you could always check out digi-key or mouser. I can be fun and satisfying to repair your gear yourself even if it is not worth it cost wise
