I hope you don't mind me borrowing the images from your signature.

Not at all... I put them up with the intention of sharing in the first place. (Can't you just see it - a whole page of eyeballs looking around... Halloween is coming...)

Cheers,

May I suggest showing up on the Sonar 8 tour

Here's the tour places and dates
http://www.cakewalk.com/events/sonar8tour.asp

Seth, handling the West Coast, looks forward to your questions
Here's a quote following the 1st LA evening

Also, I really appreciated the level of Q & A at the event. You guys made it a lot of fun by asking questions, so lets definitely keep that vibe for future events!

a few folks in P5 T-shirts, a couple of tasteful small signs with one of the newer '?' logos
could make a lasting impression
and there are a handful of legitimate questions about Sonar's 'borrowing' features from P5 and what may come
not to mention whatever happened to that promised P5 update?

bear in mind that Sonar users have expressed a lot of interest in P5 (at least before Sonar 8 was actually shipping)

Wearing a 'shortie shirt' just might garner more attention to the cause.
Mine have all these tiny little burn holes in them. I have no recollection of how they might've gotten there.

I am seriously trying to use another DAW that I own.

Sonar HomeStudio6, Ableton Live Lite, Acid ....something supported that I can upgrade into over time.

Then I go back to Project5 and ...BAM. I'm home.

There's no excuse for a workflow this good to end. They have a new project manager. No excuses.

I have authentic analog drum machine samples.

There's no way I'd make it from ND... let me know if you want a hi-res version of the image for signs or whatever.

I'm a Project5 LE owner, i get it two days ago with my PCR300. I'm waiting that Cakewalk update it before buy the 3.x version (I hope)

I read this forum every week, and it's a pity that cakewalk dumps their own products: that was the reason because I didn't buy Sonar 4 months ago.

Welcome to the party! Even if there is never a v.3, I don't regret having gotten v.2.5, it's a great app. If you have the cash, it won't be wasted.

Cheers,

I hate the color of the ring around the picture, and the picture itself and the question mark (the "statement" being made) are so blurred as to be unintelligible. I think if this is to have any effect, someone who knows how to do graphics should create the "statement" avatar. Then I would also use it.

Good to have you back, Nick - my favorite contrarian!

The whole avatar sit-in is not closed to a few avatar-makers... grab your copy of Photoshop (or whatever) and dig in! The goal is to have fun whilst (hopefully) getting the Bakers' knickers in such a bunch they'll give us what we want: information.

Not to create high-end, ad agency-level graphics. Even though that's fun, too.

Cheers,

Russ

At this point... I beg to differ.

Is it too big though? Should I switch it around so that it's more horizontal?

I don't have, use, or know how to use Photoshop, nor have the time. For me it would be a total waste of time because I don't think any avatar will have any effect on Cakewalk's decision to continue on with Project 5, nor do I really care that much. But again, if someone creates a standard clear-looking avatar that everyone decides they will use, then I will use it too.

Ok... Fixed it anyway:

Made it more "sig-like" and changed the icon a bit so that no part of it goes outside the "circle" to make it more NI-ish.

So, does this work:

Maybe with a tagline on top saying something like, "The only hope of an entire community:" or something to that extent?

Just had a thought: Remember with Win 95 there was the snippet of "Start Me Up" that defined the whole campaign?

Maybe we could use the first bar of "Don't Fear the Reaper."

Carry on.

Oh well. Since you don't care, this probably won't matter to you, either - you said you wanted a clear image?

Now, if smoked glass isn't your style... adjustments can be made... but it IS a little clearer than the avatar you just can't stand...

Right, but I thought the whole point was to have something that let Cakewalk know that we want some information about the future of Project5. How do any of these "improved" versions accomplish that? Why not just take the original one and clean it up so it doesn't look so blurred? And while you're at it (just a personal opinion), I think a cool blue ring would look much better than the pink.

Just a thought ................ we all know Cake will eventually come out with a new product someday. It may not have anything to do with P5, or it may not even be a host. Possibly a new instrument or something.

Anyway ............... lets collectively call it P3 regardless of what it is named. If we refuse to recognize their new product as the next latest and greatest, then maybe they will at least announce that the P series is dead and buried.
