export problem

Exported project as RIFF .wav file. Win media player wont open it.
2 Gig Athlon
Win XP Home
2 Gigs Mem
Plenty hard drive
Sound Audiophile 2496 (DELTA)

    what were your export settings? you need to export to 16bit/44100Hz. most people record in 24bit (as you should), but they hve to be rendered down to 16bit for playing in WMP or CD players, etc. use dithering, too.

    I had that problem with a couple of the converter programs I had. For some reason they don't recognize RIFF Wav files as wav files. Someone mentioned that they didn't have any problems using iTunes. I think this is the one I ended up with.

    I switched to 44100 but in the options panel it is not letting me cut the bitrate down to 16

    that doesn't sound right. are you talking about for EXPORT settings or for PROJECT settings? I'm talking about in the EXPORT Settings. when you select FILE>EXPORT>AUDIO
    a window will popup. change the BIT RATE and SAMPLE RATE on THAT screen.
