Play this and watch the cat
I like what I'm hearing, Alan. This is what makes the time invested worthwhile.
That's a pretty powerful piece. Around 1:20 it thins out a bit, but where you you have that Middle Eastern vibe going, it's really strong.
Work on putting more spice into those drums. Your synth pads and strings rock.
This is a heck of a start, and I think you will do well.
edt: I see you saw the cat.

Thanks for the encouragement Bob, Appreciated.....Most of my tunes fall down with the drums. I use an Alesis PR16 which I'm not totally convinced is up to the mark. Might have to consider Jam Stixs...What do you think???

I'm not entirely sold on the Jamstix thing.
You seem to have a good sense of rhythm, and you also seem to be getting comfortable with your keyboard.
Try pounding out your own drums on the keyboard, using the Proteus drums, or TTS-1. Or try the Piano Roll. Explore your options.
    Examples from my library:
The drums on Black Wind were done in Piano Roll.
The Drums on Donna Michelle were played live on the keyboard.
Moonlight uses a loop from Session Drummer 2.
Try different things. It's all good, just depends on what's right for the song.

I'll give the synth and keyboard a bash Bob. That piano roll seems complex.

That's pretty good, Alan. I was thinking it's a modern update of a Russian folk song. Was It all Proteus? All the sounds were very good.
Speaking of Proteus and drum maps, there are a lot of Proteus listings in the drum map selection list. One of these days I'm going to dig around in there, see what's what.
