This sounds great Shad!!!! Thanks for the listen! And I enjoyed the story also. Very creative. I do have to say, I think it needs more added to it though, maybe some spooky halloween sounds and add more to it, other instruments, bass, drums, guitar, I dunno for sure.

Either way it sounds great like it is! Keep on keepin' on!

Robby - Thanks for listening my man. I am working on your request.

Reece -

Ron - I will finish the story and post it with the other parts. Its cool to have a secondary reason to pursue music.

Alan - Thanks man. Not sure where things will go yet. There are some interesting suggestions here.

Steve - I was wondering if some parts here would get your attention. I agree, it would make an interesting prog song - I just have no clue how really. I am trying some things though.

James - Thank you. I am honored. I am very encouraged by your words.

Mark - LOL, yeah me too at times. There where moments where I expected flying saucers to come swooping in and abduct me while recording that one heheh.

Bobby - Thanks for the listen. I am not sure yet where the next part will take me.

Two words, man...

CREE
PEEEE

Definitely the most bizarre intro story I've ever read in the Songs forum (freaked me out)! And what a sound palette you've got. Dude I wish I had your sonic ingenuity, but alas I rarely venture out beyond the standard piano presets. Another fantastic improv! The piece itself is like a sequel to the Bach Toccata (although I hear Bach didn't actually write that one. Were you alive back in 17xx? Hmmmm)

Ok one thing I gotta ask: The contraption is attached to their heads ...but are their heads still attached to their bodies?? Yuck yuck yucko

What would be cool IMO would be if you could incorporate the "Story" having it Read along with the song or music and add some spooky halloween sounds to express certain words and thoughts of the story and the tune. JMO..... Just a thought. I thought I would throw that one out there, yeah, it's easier said than done I know.

Very cool piece. Nice organ work and I like the echoy synth over the organ. Nice improv too. I really enjoyed this especially with the narrative set-up you gave for it.

Shad
I have to also agree with robby
It needs to be developed into a progressive rock type of instrumental........you have all the great beginings and makings of a great tune here....It really reminds me of an opening that ELP would do to like open a show.................it clouds of mystery and smoke////////////\
I am glad to see you back creating......................it's a beautiful thing.........

Hey Shad - this is awsome, and I'm glad you've gotten past your songwriter's block.

Regarding the sounds and tones throughout this song, may I use the phrase "Far Out" - I apologize for not coming up with a better one

Great tune, but IMO not scary, so I'm not sure about the Halloween theme. Maybe more of a sci-fi vibe, like Mark mentioned.

Cheers,
Doug

The only way to listen to this song is to read the story while the music is playing, definitely adds more the story.

Ducky - LOL - I feel like I have been alive for a few hundred years. Yeah the story was pretty dark eh? Not the type of thing I usually write. I am going to finish the story (and music) and try to fill in some detail... all I need to do is find time during these 60 hour work weeks I have been pulling lately. I finally have a day off (not sure if I have two) tomorrow (though I have want to go in for a couple of hours to tackle some tasks needed that are not really work related (like fix the sound system).

Bobby - I have had a lot of feedback where folks have said "I do not get a Halloween vibe". Maybe adding some sounds would help that

Clark - Thanks - I still recall your work. Not there yet, but I keep trying.

Cliff - Thanks man. To be compared to ELP is a thrill indeed. Keith Emerson is a hero of mine. He used a lot of organ and I tried to emulate his sound (poorly).

Doug - Far out works . Seems a better description for it than the one I used heheh. Thanks for listening.

Jon - (I think I know two Jons in this world, and you are both here LOL). I agree, the story was a bit hastily written, it was just an idea that came to me the first time I listened to the recording. I plan on working more on both parts.

Thanks again everybody for listening and your feedback. I am surprised nobody had any comments on the mix. Did it actually sound pretty good?

Cheers
Shad

Shad,

Haunting synth work.

(No percussion ... at all!)

Rob and Doug - Thanks for the feedback. I hear some problems, but they might not be worth fixing if I am the only one who hears them.

Dan - LOL, that's funny. I kinda felt a bit like the Phantom when I played this

Philip - Thank you kindly. It seems its a bit of a hit and miss with the "spook" level of this song. I am glad it rang the right note for you too. No, no percussion... its sorta liberating actually heheh. I find percussion incredibly hard to do so its easy to convince myself not to LOL.

Tom - Thanks for the listen and read. Z3ta continues to impress me.

Cheers
Shad

Shad

I thought I'd revisit this as it was so unbelievable first time around.....and it still is.

And to think I still haven't taken the shrink wrap off my z3 yet, it makes me feel kinda ashamed when you can pull off sounds like these with it...

I'm keeping this tune handy to keep the nasty spirits away.

Excellent stuff.

Even without your description, this is highly suggestive of a soundtrack for a science fiction/horror film. Pretty weird, but I did listen to the end. I like the juxtaposition of the synth to the Bach-like pipe organ

Thanks Mark. I seem to be moving more and more into the minimalist mode with my music. I am trying to avoid the repetitive nature of minimalism, while embracing the simplicity and purity of form that it embodies.

You mention Bach, as did someone else in my other post. This is very flattering for me, as I tried to make them Baroque in nature. I like the "pop" music of the era, such as Bach and Vivaldi, though I have a lot of learning to do about counterpoint before I can even begin to compare to them.
