Driver Parameters

I run MC 4 on a Vistat system and I am unable to adjust driver parameters. Everytime I attempt to adjust the buffer size it says "an error occured setting parameters on this page" and it doesn't change it. I need to adjust these settings because when I'm recording, the audio drops out and/or skips. Previously, I had been instructd to RUN Appdata and rename the Music Creator folder with "backup" added. It worked once, but hasn't worked since. Any suggestions, gang? Thanks.

Thank you for contacting Cakewalk Technical Support. Please try the
attached reset utility. If that alone fails, please go to your Windows
Start Menu and click "Run". At the prompt,
    type or paste the following:

    %APPDATA%/CAKEWALK

This will open a folder in Windows Explorer. Find the folder named
"Music Creator 4". Right-click on it and choose "rename". Change
the folder's name to the following:

    "Music Creator 4 backup"

Launch Music Creator 4 again and allow it to recopy the application
    data.

Before you launch MC4. Please download this driver mode utility.
http://www.cakewalk.com/support/sonar/drivermode.zip You can use it to
launch SONAR in a different driver mode such as ASIO.
