[Track] Id4 : minimal/techno

I hadn't used P5 in about three months, and decided to give it another go.

this is what I came up with in about one evening and one morning.

Listening now - liking it, think the kick could do with bringing out more - it seems to get a little lost to me when other elements are playing at the same time.

Got some really cool sounds going on! SOunds seem to be pretty central though, could benefit from a few more stereo sounds/panning etc.

Really like the track, I think you could develop it into a really big track, that builds and builds - I know you have said it's minimal but it could move to other areas.

    Cheers

    hi seb,

    great sounds.

nice subtle reverb creates an intimate space

love the little automation touches that make the main bass line squeek

the percussion is really tight and small sounding. digging it.

Nice one. Very open production with everything sounding clean. And nice beat, too. Yea, you could do a build up on it, but it is awlfully nice as is.

Honestly I thought this track was straight ill....I don't think you get enough credit for your mixing skills, I personally loved the overall feel of this one and thought the builds were great as it stands.

Man I have to point out your kick, I love how punchy and phat it sounds and personally wouldn't change a thing about it myself, the best part about it is the seperation it has from the sub-bass, nice technique and something I really need to learn myself. I really feel you are starting to devolop your idm tracks a lot over this past year, keep it up.

Split album from myself and :10: (Sean Forsythe) can be found at this link :)

whoa, thanks a lot everyone, I'm glad you liked it.

Dustin, this kick is a layering of two kick drums, one for the early01 "click", the other one for more bass, it doesn't have a lot of low end because I left that for the sub bass.

automation on that bass eric, actually, I only assigned a midi CC to osc2 level in the synth I used, and osc2 was tuned a fifth above the first oscillator.

As for it becoming a big track, this wasn't intended at first, but yeah, I guess it could work. I wish I had some vocals to work with though, even some simple vocal effects, not necessarily a whole track, but I've never tried working with vocal samples, does anyone know a nice place to find some? I guess I could look in those CM CDs I have.

    Thanks a lot for listening.

Yeah I like this. That kick is a little too dry for my preference. I'd put some air around it, get it a little more organic sounding. That's just me though. Cool piece

Very cool piece, Seb. This song grooves nicely and has just the right balance of elements to keep it interesting, without becoming overbearing - that seems like a hard balance to strike with minimal music, but you nailed it perfectly IMO! Clean production as well. Oh yeah, add my name to the "Love the kick drum as it is" column.

We are a bit biased here, we're BIG BIG Badbib fans, especially when he pulls out his sax, we said SAX.
