New site, free and no limits
Wanted to post this remix of "always" for y'all. This is a Ric Laue song, featuring our resident piano virtuoso, Janet Wohlgemut, better known as "Momma bear" here. The main reason for posting here is for comments, mix, instrumentation, everything and anything that stands out or should be addressed, changed, etc. And the second reason is to show off our friend's piano, the remix was intended to bring her piano work more up front, it was buried too much in the previous version, in my opinion. http://affiliate.kickapps.com/kickapps/_Always/audio/217253/28743.html The site is out of Canada, and they are very open to new talent. There are quite a few great talents there, and some real characters. There are no limits on the size of the files posted, or the number, so there are some high quality uploads (although they do take longer to play, buffer issues and stuff), and there are also self produced videos there. Please take a minute to check out my videos, all made with music by Ric Laue, and a few other songs I have uploaded there. Later Albert

Interesting Al, but I can't figure it out, there does not seem to be a actual site for each artist, just independant pages for each song.

Yeah, navigating that site is a bit rough, but then, it is Canadian. They do things different north of the border. There are actual home pages for those who wish to set them up, they have a coupl einteresting blogs, and there are tv and radio "stations", but I haven't figured most of it owt yet. But the unlimited upload is worth the aggrivation for some one who has a lot of material to present, and the general friendly attitude of every one there makes you feel welcome quickly. Not a "soundclick" type site, but I figured others might find it useful. Later Albert

Just checked the link, it goes directly to the page for "Always", so that is it. It is based on a "round", acoustic guitars working and reworking a short theme, with piano, and then a short break, and then back to the round. Later Albert

I really like the "round" of guitars on this. very nice playing as usual from Ric. cool flute addition. nice piano, Janet! the instruments really compliment each other here. this is really well done. my only critique is that there seems to be a little noise (hiss) that's audible only at the very beginning.

Hey I finally got a chance to check it out and it really is very nicely done, great job, great mix, Al. I also enjoyed the site itself, looks like another good place to take a whole day to browse around and listen to a lot of good artists. I am sure it's just my poor sound hooked up to my notebook computer here at work, but at approx 2:46 into Always, I heard a part come in that was like a bell or a gong or something that didn't reproduce well at all on my end and detracted from the rest of the song. But I do know it's dang near impossible to record something that sounds good on ALL systems. A very nice job, nice keys there Janet, and thanks for posting this Al, so we could all enjoy!

Hi, John I'll make note of that time and check out the noise. Even if it only happens on your machine, it may be something that has a peak or something that can be fixed. I am working with a new tool, and I just took the time to read the help files (but I'll deny ever saying that) and found I have not been adjusting the multi-band settings correctly, so it is back to the mixing board this evening. A tough life, nudging the mouse and listening, another nudge, listen again...don't know how I'll survive. If I could only get paid to do this. Yeah, Beagle, the hiss is one of those things I just can't get rid of. I've tried phase cancelling, noise gating, eq adjusting, did I leave anything out? But I get it from Ric's under-saddle pick up, and even more from his mic's. If only we could get into a real studio... Thanks again for the attention and close listening, and all comments are considered and ignored...ooops, I mean implimented...yeah, that's it Later Albert

Thanks you guys. This was rather fun to play along with, actually, and one of the easier collabs I've done.

ORIGINAL: gamblerschoice Yeah, navigating that site is a bit rough, but then, it is Canadian. They do things different north of the border. Careful now...you are treading on thin water there! We have "friends" here too! And we sometimes have good websites, and maybe someday we'll produce a good movie!

No doubt we had a couple of good ones, but we are certainly out numbered. Strange Brew was good! I haven't thought of the MacKenzie boys in years. You can see how dated it is by the type of beer bottles.

I had the chance to "talk" with the owner of the site, Lenn Amsterdam, asked him about the screen names of "ringo", "Neil Young", "Gordon Lightfoot", "Stuart Copeland", he claims they are all the real thing. They have a country tv show set up, and Willie Nelson stopped by there last weekend. It was a real trip to have one of my songs, well Ric's actually, "favorited" by Gordon Lightfoot. And, for the record, some of the best musicians on this site are Canadian, and British, A few aussie's, other europeans,we are actually a very international group. Hell, Even the Great Republic Of Texas has strong representation here. Canadians are a different breed, though. I visit a site that is from Canada, Free Dominion, very interesting people there, and they have access to news we don't get here over the main stream media waves. And the way things are going, I hear they are considering a Canadian/American unified currency now. No, really, there is talk about this in the upper levels of both governments. That border may be a memory soon. Later Albert

I think the money mess is truly global now. Funny, we are one of the youngest countries on the face of the planet, and when we stumble a little the whole world trips behind us. Later Albert
