You guys have been very helpful and I appreciate it!.I need to know how to apply the cakewalk effects before the recording,I can only add them after the recording. thanks again!

    Right-click in the effects bin in the track view or console view; insert effect; enable input monitoring to hear the effect.
    A note: the effect is not recorded on the track. It's applied to the output signal. If you want the effect to be permanent, use the 'Process' menu to apply the effect to the track. You can then delete the effect from the bin to lessen the processor drain.

    I do suggest not processing first, during recording, as this is not reversable. Get a good dry recording and add effects afterwards. Then you can adjust to taste, and not have to do it over if it is not quite right.

    Ditto.... insert the FX in the FX bin...but leave the raw tracks dry. This way, if you don't like something..you can always change it....

    process it, and you're done... don't like that... record the track again.
