The Incredible Disappearing Waveform
For some reason, when I load some projects the wave form on my audio clips are not there (just a flat line). The audio file itself is still there an plays fine - just can't see the waveform itself (and can't edit). Anyone else have this problem? It doesn't happen in every project, but just happened again today in a new client's project, and this time only on a portion of the files. Wierd-o-rama. BTW - that's version 7.0

Have a look in options /global/folders and see where your picture Cache folder is. This is where SONAR stores all the .wov files which are the graphical representaion for the wave form of each audio file/clip. That folder has a size limit which is set in the aud.ini file and it seems that your folder is full. Its good practice to empty this folder from time to time. This allows SONAR to re-draw the wave form and create a new and refreshed .wov file. This doesn't hurt anything as its just a graphical representaion of the audio and not connecteed to the audio file as such.

ORIGINAL: barlowjam Thanks Mike. I had no idea. I'll take a look at that. Thanks again. Don't be at all surprised when after clearing out your cache and reloading a project, it'll take a while for SONAR to redraw all your waves. After that you're ready to rock'n'roll, or whatever floats your boat.

I seem to recall once having multiple takes in a track with the layers view collapsed and the 'top' take was armed for record with no input resulting in a digital black track but the track played the audio 'under' that layer. Just a thought. -D

Have you tried - Right click on clip Clip Properties Audio Files tab - recompute picture I have found that this rarely works for some reason when clips "flatline". Deleting the wov files from the cache (or simply clearing the whole cache) always seems to work.

I love reviving dead threads. I have this NOW with Sonar X1b and it's driving me crazy. No amount of deleting the contents of the Picture Cache or Recomputing Picture is helping me. Not only is the waveform disappearing, but the transient markers I use for pocketing are also gone! Of course, each (waveform and trans markers) are visible at random and brief intervals of different zoom levels. Help me!!!!
