Default Audio Format Not Compatible? <SOLVED>

I've had my audio driver bit depth set to 24, sample rate at 48000 Hz since I first bought Sonar Home Studio 6, still at 24 with 6 Producer, 7 Producer, and still with 8 Producer. Worked just fine. No problems. Until I install the 8.0.1 patch, and now I get a message that says The default audio format is not compatible with one or more sound cards. It has been reset to 44100Hz (16bit), as suggested by the driver. I don't get it. I can change the sample rate back up to 48000hz, but the default bit depth won't set higher than 16. Record is still set to 24 and render is still set to 32. Why won't 8.0.1 let me play back audio at 24 bit, when apparently I was playing back at 24 bit with ALL previous version of Sonar? At least I thought I was playing back at 24 bit, or did I just think I was but really wasn't?

I believe this thread should answer the questions. Cakewalk are aware(this is a sticky in this forum, but hard to miss since there are so many):
