I have 2-3 songs that load in v8.3 but not in v.8.5.3?

I have 2-3 songs that load in v8.3 but not in v.8.5.3?

One by one, I've been migrating my songs from v8.31. to v8.5.3.
Most of these changes haven't been a problem, expect for 2 or 3 songs.

The songs load fine in the new version, but the audio engine will not engage.
I've checked settings in 8.3 then in 8.5. I can close out 8.5 and re-open the same
song in 8.3 without any problems.

??

Thanks,
Pay-Pal Michael

    Hey Michael,
I don't' have an answer to your Sonar issue, but I like your signature (Pay-Pal Michael)...lol! I can't believe that certain forum members/fanboys "attacked" you for the Pay-Pal post. Anyway, hope you find an answer to your importing songs issue....

Were the problem songs perhaps done in a different bit rate than your default 8.5.2 is currently set at?

44.1 or 48 would be the other thing to check.

All my old projects open fine is 8.5.3 with the exception of some of the older plugins that are not compatible with 64-bit...

I recently had a similar, but not identical problem. Some of my projects created in 8.0.x or earlier would not open in 8.3.x or 8.5.x. By using the safe load feature (I think you hold shift while selecting the project to open, I'm not at my DAW now), I could selectively load the plug-ins one by one to figure out which one caused the problem. You might be able to do the same thing. In my case, it was the external insert, because the architecture of that changed between 8.0.x and 8.3.x. Hope you get it figured out.

    24bit ,44,100, XP32 bit

I'll try the safe mode start to see if I can get them to run.

    Thanks,
    keep um comin'

I was going to suggest trying SAFE MODE file open as well, but one other thing - aside from 'selectively' choosing which plugins to load, one can simply try saying "YES TO ALL" (ie, load them all but in SAFE MODE).   The result will be that you lose your layout but if the project plays, you can always reload your "layout" (if you saved one).
If loading the project works with the YES TO ALL, just save it out in 8.5.x and then it will be fine.

If it doesn't then it could be an incompatible plugin in the project.

If you didn't save a layout - open a project that works fine, with the layout you use, and save it out as a layout (VIEW->Layouts->Add).   Then you can recall it anytime.   So it's always a good idea to save your layout with a name you can remember and recall as need be.

thanks for the heads up on the layouts. I wasn't aware or didn't know about this so I looked them up.

    For others:

    [[[[[[[[[Window Layouts dialog
[SONAR stores the layout of all of a project’s views in the project file when you save the project. By default, SONAR restores the layout of all the views when you open the file.
[In addition, you can save the current layout in a separate list--the global layout list. Once you have saved the layout in this list, you can apply it to any open project. The global layout list can contain as many layouts as you want. Layouts in the list can be updated, renamed, and deleted.
[The Views > Layouts command opens the Window Layouts dialog box.
