DSP compression on the Mic Pres On VStudio

The compressors on the VStudio are DSP based. So I assume these are not hardware compressors. It does come with a pad, so that will help with recording hot signals. If I wanted to patch in a hardware compressor, how would this be done?

When mixing, could I use the DSP compressors and any effects in Sonar?

Thank you

DSP processing can be either software or hardware. The question is If the 700 could use Digital Signal Processing on its hardware inputs and outputs? And if it would be con trollable from the software?
