Using My SilentX Fan Speed Controller

Hi,

I'm using a fan speed controller on the heat sink fan of my old Athlon XP 2400+ CPU (trying to get things a little quiter of course). The CPU is supposed to be capable of maxing out at a temp of around 86%C. Before installing the speed controller it normally ran at 30%C or thereabouts. It's currently around 32%C (at idle). When running Cakewalk with close to 32 tracks it goes up to 34%C. Does anyone know if this is safe considering the CPU I'm using.

I also swapped the case for an Antec (though not one that's advertised as being a "quiet case"). I can't say the case made any difference, but the Antec PSU is wayyyy more quiet than the old one.
