That's a pretty cool vibe, Greg. The snare on 3 is a bit distracting. I'm thinking if you hit this with brushes, it might just work. I'm digging(gotta say that, it's jazz ) the upright bass and piano. That guitar tone is sweet.

Good job on the tune... I like the mellowness of this.... I have to agree on the drums..... the snare is a distraction... you could take it out entirely and the remaining drums would suit this tune well.... The song is well done.

Thanks guys and gals! This thing started a few months ago with a question about the pattern brush tool in the drum maps, I think from Nutty. So I started a project just to play with the brush, and ended up with a little 3 measure drum track, which is the basis of the drum track you hear. I dragged it out a few more measures, and started wondering if I can make something out of this. So I saved it, and added to it as the months went by. Decided yesterday it was close enough to the finish line that I needed to get it done, so with a little editing, many, many guitar punch-ins, bouncing and mixing (that was easy, only 4 tracks to mix), I finished it up about 12:30 or so this morning. The snare, huh? RobertB, what do you mean by "The snare on 3"? The 3rd beat? Anyway, I'll see what I can do to tame it, the Dog and the Guitarhacker mentioned that as well. Thanks for listening!

Greg, yeah, i mean the snare on the 3rd beat. I think if it were softer, it would work, but as is, it has too much contrast, and throws the vibe out of balance. You have a lot more rhythmic leeway with jazz, but also more opportunities to bind things up. Listen to Donna Michelle on my Soundclick page. The emphasis is on beat 4 with the side stick. This would never fly with rock or country, but I think it works here. Granted, it's a different scenario, but it shows you can manipulate the rhythm more with jazz. You have a good tune here. Find that balance, and it's killer.

Okay...thanks Greg, I can live this that. I have my eye on one, but hubby keeps mention the 10 or so that are alrady here. I don't understand what his issue is? After all 3 of them are our daughters!

very smooth - I also agree that brushes instead of snare would really complete the mellow sound I think you were going for
