too many midi outs

I have one midi out, Focusrite Saffire. When any midi piece opens all the midi tracks are set to 2-Focusrite Saffire even though there is no such thing. I have to go through every midi track and reset to 1-Focusrite Saffire which is set up in Instruments. There is nowhere to set up 2-Focusrite Saffire or I would.

If this weren't enough trouble, 2-Focusrite Saffire is set with the wrong bank select controller and if I run it by mistake it totally trashes my midi box. Have to unplug it and ding around to get it reset.

How can I tell Sonar (8) what midi to set up every time?

thanks

I''m not at my DAW right now, but I believe it's under - Options - Midi Devices.

Under Options - MIDI Devices let us know if you have 2 Saffires listed. Make sure the one you want is the only one checked and then click the Moved Checked Devices to Top button.

There is no need to individually assign MIDI outs. Double click a track number to select ALL tracks (even audio ones) the go to Tracks - Property - Outputs and choose the MIDI output for all MIDI tracks.

You might want to look up Templates in the help file, so that you can recall all your favourite settings when you start a new project.

Thanks... i didn't know that. Sure helps when changing to vst's.
It says 1) Focusrite Saffire and 2) Focusrite Saffire (midi outs). But there is only 1 saffire midi.

After assigning to the 1) Focusrite Saffire, the 2) Focusrite Saffire disappears as a choice. It's not that big a deal but keep thinking something (else) is set up wrong.

My no midi in is a bigger problem.
