Sonar + UAD1 + UAD2 + P5B + what CPU?
I have been getting along just fine with Sonar and 3 UAD-1 cards on my old Asus A8V Deluxe with AMD Athlon X2 3800+. I am now looking to upgrade one of my PCI UAD-1 cards to a UAD-2. Of course, this means I need a PCI-e slot, which my mobo doesn't have. On impulse, I picked up an Asus P5B Deluxe at a bargain price (US$35), and now I need to decide what CPU to put in it. I was considering a Core 2 Duo E7200 to keep the price down ($120), but am also considering a Quad Q6600 ($190). My main concern is whether one or the other will get along better with Sonar, 2 PCI UAD-1 cards, and one UAD-2 (probably a Solo initially). FWIW, I primarily deal with audio tracks; very little midi/VSTi use, lots of UAD plugs.
I found a few older threads discussing Core 2 Duo vs. Quad, but nothing specifically related to UADs and/or this particular mobo (P5B Deluxe). Any help would be appreciated. TIA.
