DA AD Converters in V-700

Can someone definitively answer whether the SAME converters are used in this device as was used in the (now defunct) VS line? I've ALWAYS thought that Roland had great sounding converters- better than most of the outboard stuff available today.

I'm not very interested (necessarily) in the mic preamps (I own some very high-end mic pres). I am interested in the D/A A/D converters. To my ears, those converters in the VS series were very good sounding.

I'd like to know too. It definitely affects buying decisions I make . Most of the VS recorders did not use particularly high-end converters though, but decent AKM chips AFAIK, on a par with interfaces from the likes of M-audio, Echo etc. If they sound better - then the preamps and general circuit design (a good low jitter clock) may well be responsible for that. The performance of a converter cannot be independent from that of it's surrounding circuity.

Looking forward to it ... haven't been to Big D in a while! Of course, I will be using the VS-700 throughout the SONAR demo.
