Help with automating effects in CMC3

OK so i tried to test how to automate effects the way it said in the manual. i imported an audio file, put a Flanger effect on the track (the manula said to put FXFlange 1, but it doesn't have that for whatever reason).
Next i right-clicked on the audio track, went to Envelopes-Create Track Envelope- and there's supposed to be an option that says FXFlange1/ Flanger there, but there isn't. Any help/ suggestions?

MC does not do that level of automation, only pan, volume and such. That is a bad in the manual, and is for SHS and Sonar.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

hmmm...well the manual is incorrect in at least one thing there. the FXFlange only comes with SHS and higher - with MC you just get the regular flanger. we know the manual is incorrect in places because they didn't change it good enough from Sonar to really reflect the actual product.

as far as writing the automation, I didn't think that the envelope for the flanger controls were supposed to be there until you started the automation (although I could be wrong about that). click on the "W" on the track properties and then click PLAY on the transport. then change one of the settings on the flanger. you should then be able to edit each of the flanger's controls in envelopes which have appeared on the track, or you can just continue to adjust the controls and allow the automation to write the envelopes for you as the song plays.

MC will allow certain VST / synths to automate different functions. I can automate Jamstix using envelopes. I don't know about the cake fx being automated however.

ANON... you can go to my web site and look up the details on how to automate something....assuming it is able to be automated in MC.

Yep - I just checked and the regular Flanger which comes with MC does not have automatable controls. sorry.

GH's post is encouraging. At least MC will allow envelopes to automate functions IF the plug-in has automatable parameters.
By default, you would only see Volume and Pan envelopes in a normal audio track.
If you don't have an effect inserted in the FX bin, no extra envelopes would be available. They would only appear if there is something to control.
