About audio/midi

I've been messing around with the program and I know with midi I can tranpose to any key and slow down and speed up the tempo as I please. Is it possible to change the tempo of a recorded audio track with out rerecording it or to change the key of a audio track. I know pitch bend in the effects bin will allow you to change the key but I think t cuts out alot with glitches. let me know. thanks

    Yes...but NO.

Technically...you are supposed to be able to do that...depending on the platform....

In reality... it's easier to record the track again.

    yep - what he said.

you can time stretch and pitch change to a small degree, but for more than just a small amount it starts sounding bad.

thats what I figured, thanks. I was trying to take the easy way out. Im realizing now that Im experimenting with singing, that just because I write a song in a certain key it doesnt mean its the best key for me to sing in. so then I might have to transpose. I know I can do this with capo's and detuning the guitar but was just trying to find a short cut. lol. anyway, thanks

I always like to sing it in several keys to decide which is best BEFORE I start "rolling tape" .....

Also if you play guitar and will be doing midi too..... be sure the guitar tuner is perfectly in tune with the midi...440 on both...

When I started piano lessons... I liked the key of C... no sharps, flats or black keys.... but that didn't last long..... that's why I love the guitar...no black keys...!

Yeah, those black keys always trip me up. My song "Betty Ann" has a key change from B to C# on the last chorus, and it's easy to play on guitar/bass, I've played it hundreds of times.
But when I recorded it on MC with a MIDI keyboard (the bass part), I just couldn't play that C# change! So I had to transpose the keyboard a whole step down so I played the same keys I did before, but it sounded like the change to C#.
