A Latin Sketch
Here's a sketch of some variations with a latin groove that I am working on. This version is scaled down for bassoon and bass. A Latin Sketch I'll add some more flesh, bones, and color to it in the near future. Please give it a listen and let me know your take on it. Marko

Really nice, I'm looking forward to hearing the finished product. Keep it up!

I think it's working now. I don't know what the problem was.

0.000000002 cents: As is: Dynamics are extremely wide (... but you said its a sketch) Ah ... I love that bouncy hook/chorus A lot of sweet bouncy melodies going on here: a second song or bridge (or something) occurs half way ... very sweet. Its a great honor to hear your virtuoso and playfulness here. I wish I was closer in the recital hall listening.

Lovely. Sounds way better than my patches. Hopefully I will be in a position to add to my kit soon. A happy, fun tune. Well done. Cheers Shad

Thanks Legion. No How, Please give it another try. Thanks Philip. I substituted a narrower mix; a bit drier too. I 'm still getting the hang of the reverb plug-in. Thank you Shad. Marko

How fun… this is wonderful and unique. The bassoon has such a distinctive voice. It both sings and speaks with such self indulgence… it runs out and says look at me… and then runs away again... all the time grinning… even in its pathos. And the bass is its sidekick… reinforcing the playful antics. This is so theatrical; I am almost tempted to suggest breaking tradition and varying the reverb based on the depth of the performance, for I definitely hear three dimensions in this. Have you ever thought about a 5.1 mix? Something this basic, yet so full of life deserves to be paraded… just a thought. The sound is clear and distinct… be careful not to bury it… it is to entertaining and full of character to stand in the back… I’d like to hear more…
it's about the music... mist EMU-1616, XP, 2.1GHz, 3GB (actually 4GB, but I didn't realize XP wouldn't utilize anything over 3, so the last GB is wasted I guess), 160G, StudioPro 3’s, Logitech 2.1 (just to reference bass), MDR 7506, PCR-300

That was really cool. I love the stand-up bass too. Is that a real bassoon? If not, it sure sounds real. Great transitions and cool/happy sounds. It makes me think in pictures. thanks for sharing it.

are those real or MIDI? The bassoon if I were to guess was MIDI. The bass is kinda low to really determine, but a great sound. Interesting stuff and nice stereo ambience.

Thank you Janet. Thank you mixmkr. It's MIDI. I used the bassoon from the Vienna Instruments Woodwinds (volume 1) and the Vienna Upright bass. I'm still getting the hang of the reverb plug-in. The bass seems spread out more than the bassoon. I'll post another arrangement of this with more instruments in the near future. Marko
