soundclick charts

I was just wondering if the soundclick charts have any validity.

I've seen some people from here on them and I was just wondering.

I haven't noticed any more traffic to my site, so, I was wondering if they were misleading.

They're based on plays per day, but only one play per computer per day counts, to prevent you from playing your song a thousand times a day to get it to No. 1. You'll notice your song jump up the charts if you post it here.

--Methinks not that many people listen to SoundClick nor amateur music, world-wide.

--You can be a one-hit-wonder-superstar for a day or 2, by posting here (as per James). Its almost cheating because many of us want to crit each other. Our motives are not to repeatedly listen to one another.

--There are other ways to cheat, but that costs $$. Paying SoundClick is one way (to *cheat*). Your song can get played by mere hits on your SoundClick page. Google for other ways to *cheat*.

Doubtless, if the song(s) are listenable and popular, 20 or so folks will click your song daily and you'll remain in single or double-digits for awhile.
On SoundClick, for some common genres, like POP, 20 hits/day is excellent.

Your "Stats" can give you more realistic validity (IMHO).

Then it is just as I thought. Nothing to get too excited about.

Like anything else, statistics are just statistics. Mere numbers, that's all. Is it nice to get a decent chart rating once in a while? Sure! But, that get's old very soon. I have a paid acct. with SC for the sole purpose of being able to upload 320kbps mp3's. (higher quality) I honestly don't know if there are 'scouts' on SC looking to see who's the highest in the charts. LOL! Most are musicians and as Philip stated, the public is rarely listening to the music on there. Most listeners are from this forum and my family members that I to have to beg & plead with to get them to listen once in a while...

BTW -if you want to be #1, just take a look at JonBouy's avatar on this forum....

It's very easy to get your songs up on the charts if you really wanted to. It doesn't seem like anyone uses Soundclick except for musicians on forums like this.

I personally don't like how there's tons of sub-genres, but there's no "Alternative Rock" genre, lol

LOL! And I thought I was a major recording artist after posting my link here and looking at my status on the charts.

Thanks for that info....... I'm only kidding and I think you know that, I figured it was something like that.

I still think if you get to number one, then it's a notable accomplishment. JMO regardless of whether your link to the song is posted here or wherever. JMO.....

I have never had a number one but I've chatted with a few that have.

That makes me wonder if you are going for that if you shouldn't post it on various other websites all at the same time...... Hmmm........ Just a thought.

LOL, I had one go to number 6 a while back in the Sub-Genre and was telling some family members about it and the amount of songs in the category "They just heard about the charts and didn't really understand what was going on", LOL : "I was a rock star for a day in their eyes". That made every second that I took making that noise I did up matter. And it was about probably 430 seconds to top it off. I must say Thanks to all the Cakerwalk users on this site for listening to that noise, you made me have a great day on that day! When I say noise, I mean that, I can't wait to get a real tune up there. I'm workin' on it.

That number two slot in alternative, doesn't belong in that genere.
I believe he belongs in christian rock, if they have that catagory.
He does not belong in alternative and I'm not judging him as an artist, just saying.

I went and bought a case of Sharpies at Walmart right after I first hit the charts. Lucky for me good ol' Wally World has a good return policy so I got my money back before they all dried up.

LOL, I gawked when going to double-digits: "Will I make the top 40?" --Heeheehee. A look at the stats humbled me fast!
"Those stats can't be right!" ... "D&mn those stats!", after I told everyone I was a world-wide prodigy!
    Also:
    --"You da man!"
--"Come and get me American Idol"!
    --"They'll give ya en Emmy"
    --Etc.
I think SoundClick is secretly run by the Sonar Forum.

BTW -if you want to be #1, just take a look at JonBouy's avatar on this forum....

Exactly the avatar being indicative of course of how important a SoundClick number 1 is... its not sour grapes either, me being hallowed amongst many users for having achieved top spot on a previous occasion.

It helps of course having put in a performance that people go back and listen to again because they didn't believe it the first time around...

btw anyone want to buy some Wembley tickets? I've only got 59,998 left out of 60k so I recommend getting in quickly.
