HEEEELP!!! Firepod and Sonar 6PE

Hey, I got a new laptop from my school system. It is a Dell Vostro 1000, AMD Sempron 2 Ghz, 2Gb Ram, Vista Home Basic, and it has a ExpressCard port instead of a PCMCIA slot. I am using a BYTECC ExpressCard Firewire(34mm). My problem is that my new firepod has a blue light showing it is synced, it is recognized by sonar and it shows up (I am using ASIO drivers). But the problem is that when I try and record, I am not getting any signal in Sonar. When I installed the firepod, I used the newest drivers from the presonus website. I also updated the firmware after installing the drivers. Any ideas what I have done wrong?

So you have the drivers ticked in Options Audio Drivers?

And in playback and record in Options Audio General it is showing the correct drivers?

And on the audio track, the recording driver is showing in the I (in) on the track?

Is the correct input selected in the track that coresponds to the input the guitar is in??
    Does playback work??

Yes I have done all of those things. It will record and playback, but the channel that I have assigned to record is not getting any signal. The firepod is showing that it has signal from the Mic on channel 1. But on channel one (left asio input 1), I am not getting any signal in the meter.

It is really strange. I have everything set like you asked. I can record, but it comes out as a flat line. I have all of my preamps maxed out to where they are showing clipping. But I still can't get anything. Does anyone have any suggestions?

But your really not recoridng if your not capturing anythnig. Try another input in sonar and/or the firebox.

You simply have to get your meters showing signs of life coming in.
Use import and import an MP3 track so you can hear sound coming out.

Check around page 138 of this manual Here - It takes a while to load- just replace 'toneport' with the name of your driver - it's a good detailed set up

Does your soundcard need to have the incoming source set - some expect you to tell it if it's a mic or CD or Line in etc?

Well After many hours of frustration, I plugged the Firepod into my other laptop. It has a PCMCIA firewire card. The firepod worked easily with my other laptop. So I am going to return my Bytecc ExpressCard, and order an ADS Pyro API-650 I have heard that these reportedly worked with the firepod. Any thoughts?

Did you make sure that the input assignment in Track View, for the track you're recording, indicates the correct ASIO input?

Yes, I had it set up exactly the same as on my other laptop. I had it set as ASIO 1 L input, and I tried both ASIO 1 L and Master as the output, with neither affecting the outcome.
