CD Info showing on player

HI - I am wondering what step am I missing when burning a CD - so the titles / text shows up on a player as with a commercial one. Now when I put oneI've burned in a computer for example, it will will display "Unknown artist" and the number of tracks...but no titles. I know this must be easier than I know!

Thanks

I am using Nero ver 7.2.3.3 On the burning interface it lets me enter the Track Properties for each track - "Artist, Song title, etc. and then in another tab I can enter the Indexes /limts/and splits. I have the upgrade for HSXL 7 but have not installed it yet. I noticed it has a new look to its burning section - pehaps it can accomplish what I am looking for ??

IIRC Nero has a checkbox/ window for CD-text options. Why not read the Nero Help files?

It depends on the version of Nero being used or what program you are trying to burn the disk.
some mp3 encoders can do it or you could try using windows media player to burn the disk its a hassal but im pretty sure it will write the info you enter to the disk.

I've burned CDs with an old Nero (V6...) with CD-Text enabled.  CD-Text displayed on my home audio player and automobile player.  However, it did not display in WMP.  Had to install a plug-in called WMPCDText to get WMP to display CD-Text (Google it to find downloads such as on Softpedia).  It's free!

Thanks everyone for picking up and carrying on with this thread.
In answer to Kalle's question "Why not read the Nero help files?", well it's because I am not using Nero!
To answer Sharpdion, I have discovered that audio CD's do not carry ID3 information.
Larry, I will try to get hold of Nero 6.
It seems that CD text is an old format and the new thing is to get the information from the CDDB, does anyone know about this?
    Thanks again.

I made a CD with mp3s on it for the car and it shows the album and track titles.

You are not likely to find Nero 6, I think they are up version 11 now.  Newer versions should handle CD Text.  I would imagine that most any burning software would do so but I've only used the old Nero and an even older Roxio Easy CD Creator (or something like that).

CD Text has been around a long time but few commercial audio CDs seem to incorporate it.  CDDB can work fine as long as you are playing a commercial CD on a device connected to the internet.  Not likely in your car and lots of other places.  And if you do recordings of your own music (like I often do), then CDDB won't know about your stuff.

Thank you to everyone for your advice and comments. Here's the situation so far, in case anybody picks up on this thread and wants to know!
I've burned the audio with CD text using i tunes, it works ok but not many CD players can read CD text.
I've finally mastered my album and have sent it off to the printers, so it's set now.
Therefore I have submitted the track info to the CDDB, at gracenotes using i tunes.
I'm offering it as a free download here:

    Thanks again.
