I'm building my new system with EVGA's nVidia GeForce 8600GT with dual DVI outputs. It doesn't require extra power from MB which is nice. Currently there's $30 rebate so the whole thing ends up costing about $50...I think that's reasonable, isn't it?

What do you consider "inexpensive"? What kind of monitors will you be using? Do you need (or want) a "passive cooling" card? Have you done any research of popular brands for comparison purposes? What exactly are you looking for?

    Regards,

I use the 9600GT double DVI silent wich has a fan-less cooling so as long as you have a good case for your DAW that does not get exceptionally warm you will not have any additional noise from it.

Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.

If you hadn't said inexpensive, I would have suggested Matrox P690.
